Series is tied 7-7.

ECU and Temple have indeed played 14 times. Temple was required to forfeit 6 wins from 1986 for using an ineligible player. Winsipedia records the record as 7-6.
http://www.winsipedia.com/games/east-carolina/vs/temple

However the NCAA defines a forfeit this way:
"To record a forfeit, the wins of the penalized team must be changed to losses, and the losses of its opponents must be changed to wins. This affects season records, all-time records and coaches’ records, and should be changed whenever and wherever these records appear."
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=we...U9szVfl9VA

The correct record is ECU 8-6.

RE: P6 Baby!
According to the ECU game notes, BYU is also P6:

ANYTIME, ANYWHERE
ECU is the only program in the nation to play at least three non-conference games against P6 (including Notre Dame & BYU) opponents in each of the last five years, including the 2017 campaign.

Split hairs much? The game was played and we lost it. I just pulled 7-7 from here.

It's just like having an ineligible receiver or 12 men on the field. Play by the rules or it doesn't count. Unless it's UNC. ECU has a 2 game lead over Temple.
