One problem I have seen with people doing these side ODU media outlets is that it becomes to much for one person and they stop for a while or all together, which kills any momentum that you are building. We saw it with ODUbleedblue and monarch asylum. I would say make sure you have 1 or 2 other people to help so that when things are tough in your life you can still be producing content. I know some things are more important than sports so if someone can fill in for you it wont hurt your website or fanbase.

You should get a memorable and/or shorter domain name that can redirect to your wix site.

I am looking into both, changing the domain name and leaving the Wix server completely.

I mean, I am looking for clients now for my new business venture but even then, this is only taking about 5 hours of my life a week outside of what I'd already spend at games/tailgating. I have no kids or wife and don't plan on that happening for the next 10 years so I think I will be fine! Just a matter of time! I think I could easily find people who'd love to have their thoughts heard! If anyone wants to, message me directly!

RE: Monarch Madness - Satchel Ziffer's New ODU Blog
I'll take the flip side just for the sake having both sides presented. I think there are some questions that you have to ask yourself.
- What kind of money can you make off an ODU blog? (I have no idea, so this is not meant to be a leading question)
- Are there doors that will be opened by spending time in the SB Nation ecosystem?
- Could it be a valuable learning experience to work with an existing platform for a while?
- How important is money to your RIGHT NOW? Are you in a position to be more focused on building a foundation than earning a living right now? Will SB help build that foundation?
From the article, it is clear that SB Nation is probably not a career, but could it be a means to an end?

Can't disagree with any of this. I just shared the article to give him another viewpoint to be considered before making a decision.

I think both sides of this discussion need to be considered, and ultimately, LeftUprightAndIn, it's your call. Do what you think is best for you. And, whatever you decide, know that the 12th Monarchs will support your endeavors.

That is the hard part. I applied for a job as the social media producer for the company but am somewhat reconsidering it now. There are lots of people writing for them, it could at least create connections, thus why I chose to do it. I'm writing the same stuff for the ODU blog, so it isn't a big deal. If they start riding my coattail for more stuff then I will have to reconsider, but as of now, they are only looking for a preview and recap of each football game.

RE: Monarch Madness - Satchel Ziffer's New ODU Blog
Satchel, I’m always looking for ways to invest in young entrepreneurs. I have a signed game stub ticket from Taylor Heinicke from the historical game vs. New Hampshire when Heinicke threw for a division 1 record of 730 yards in a game. This may not have value to the general public but to an ODU fan may be a treasure to have. This is 1 of 3 in my collection. I am willing to mail it to you if you're interested in selling it to help fund your content on ODU football this season. No strings attached, no return on investment all I ask is you offer it for sale and use the proceeds to further your effort on reporting ODU Football. Worst case it fetches you $20 bucks! Message me if you're serious about the offer.

That's so awesome! I would love to do that! Also everyone, keep an eye out for a raffle I will be doing that will give 100% of the proceeds to relief efforts in Houston! I'll donate in the name of all of ODU and it'll be awesome to help and whoever wins will getting something special that's in the works and will be a great memorabilia piece!

RE: Monarch Madness - Satchel Ziffer's New ODU Blog
Satchel, you should start a full ODU blog for SBNation.
Here is the list of schools only a few have their own, most of the G5 is convered under Underdog Dynasty. UTEP is the only C-USA to have their own. Would love to ODU on this list.
