My former boss took down his JMU diploma and has it in his drawer. He proudly displays his Virginia Tech MBA, however.

We are in the same boat. Other VA schools laugh at JMU "academics"... if you don't believe me, ask anyone at Richmond, W&M, VT, and UVA.

A lot of people go to ECU to become teachers. ECU began as "ECTC - East Carolina Teacher's College". Teachers in NC are woefully underpaid. In fact, ECU graduates more than 20% of North Carolina's teachers. That is one reason for the post-graduation salary.
