The schedule is dreadful. Look at it from a home game perspective:

8/25 Wyoming
9/15 New Mexico
10/6 Liberty
10/20 Georgia State
11/3 Alcorn State (FCS)

That is pretty weak. The first two games will be the only ones folks care about, then it falls off a cliff, with only 5 games total. The last FBS game in October 20th.

2019 looks even more dreary

after they get pounded at Washington State and then Alabama in opening "revenue" games
9/14 UTEP
(9/21 or 9/28 TBA G5 school (my WAG Coastal Carolina)
10/5 Liberty
(11/2 another FCS school)
11/16 Louisiana Lafayatte

After the UTEP game nobody will care and the stands will be empty.

The Aggies seem to be gambling they can get in a conference by 2020 as they have the core 4 games set and nothing more for 2020 and 2021, with 2022 and 2023 open slots for return games for whatever two G5 schools they can schedulein 2019. (Contrast this to Liberty who have 5 games for 2020, 8 for 2021, and 6 for 2022 already laid out)

I'm not seeing how this is any worse than their recent home schedules. They could have played 4 money games. Instead, they have enough winnable games that if they can build a decent team they can get bowl-eligible and actually have a chance of becoming more attractive to a conference.

Anyway, what's their alternative? They can either play FBS indy or drop football. Are you trying to say they should drop football?

i agree, it's looks like a home sch they always play.
MWC & maybe C-USA, might need them down the road as viable program
helping NMST with sch, might be in thier best intrest.

now u think outside the box, NMST plays Tex schools
signs with LHN for FB, if it works out, now ESPN is intrested

No they don't. It's a MW vs CUSA match up.

My understanding is that there is a provision that if either UNM or NMSU has at least 7 wins and is not in another bowl they are assured of a berth in the New Mexico Bowl. I am not sure which of the normal conference participants would get bumped.
No...you must be thinking of the Hawaii bowl, where Hawaii gets the bowl if they are eligible and not in a NY6 bowl.

BYU has an arrangement with the Las Vegas Bowl, which was exercised in 2015 (Bumping a MW team) to have them and Utah play one another. NMSU has a similar arrangement with New Mexico Bowl.

Believe it's the right way to only schedule one P5 team, if you can afford it. The P5 teams beat your players to sh-t. Congrats to NMSU, welcome to being Indy. Our schedules are done through 2019 as well, but not announced. Schedules for 2020 and 2021 are almost complete and should be finished by years end. It'd be interesting to see if you appear on those future schedules.

Minnesota and BYU in 2018 will get us around $1.4 Million.

We have three P5 schools in 2019 on the schedule, get well over $3 million.

Be cool to have UMass on a future schedule

How is it common sense to go above 12? Only if they drop freeloaders or relative deadweight like San Jose and Wyoming.

It's not common sense for any G5 league to have more than 10 football teams, at this point. It's just that all of them except the Sun Belt were locked into 12 or more before the current CFP and CCG rules were in place. All of them except the MAC might have only 10, if the current rules had been in place before the last big wave of realignment.

Seriously, except the MAC because they're crabs in a bucket, every other conference would be stronger at 9/10. The Sun Belt is and was more wise than C-USA.

Not really. It would split the pie 2 more ways. It might be "common sense" for UTEP and NMSU but not the MWC.

Yes. And maybe throw in a series for basketball too.
