Gone with the Wind' is gone - from Memphis theatre after 34 years
Unlike Rhett Butler, many people do give a damn.
And because they do have strong feelings about a film that depicts the slave state of the “Old South” as “a pretty world” where “Gallantry took its last bow,” the 1939 Hollywood epic “Gone With the Wind” will not screen during next year’s “Summer Movie Series” at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Memphis, theater officials announced Friday.

People are sure trying to bury the past instead of learning from it. This movie has been called the greatest ever, sure hope other media have the courage to air it

Hattie McDaniel was the 1st Black actress to win an Oscar for her role in the movie.

PC gone amok. That is a genuine classic along with Giant. I never get tired of those two. Another would be Forrest Gump. I guess Gump will not be showing soon because the main actor had a certain disability and it's not kosher to show it.
Mao's Cultural Revolution instigated by modern American communists.
Why do we listen to these idiots and when will it stop?

I know a lot of African American friends who liked this movie. They said this is like a Historical Movie for the time of Slavery. They compared it to the Color Purple as well. Those two movies are favorites for African Americans.

Exactly. I bet over 90% of the people that wanted the movie gone have never seen the movie. Someone somewhere told them what to think and, as usual, they took their marching orders. I mean, McDaniel was fantastic in that movie but apparently they don't care about that, just erasing history.
