I've got it 31-17 Memphis...so our predictions aren't that far off.

Memphis' next game is @UCF so I suspect we'll go conservative against ULM and try not to 'tip our hand' to UCF and their coaches.

UCF better be a whole lot better than last year or you'll blow them out of the water.

Well if anything you are politically correct.

Memphis is the most overrated team in G5, and had they not gotten "your" QB, that would be obvious, and I like Memphis.

They are not going to like playing A-State at all, and I expect they will be on board with firing whoever renewed the series.

The remnants of Harvey will be over Memphis during that game which could make a difference for someone. Evans had a horrible game in the rain against ULL last year. Our running game might be up to the task against a suspect Memphis defensive line.

Hope Harvey's a Warhawk fan that night....

To be honest, most of their fans don't care either way. They talked openly for a while about avoiding playing Sun Belt schools, and then they scheduled home and homes with Georgia State and ULM, sort of making the entire premise behind not playing us moot.

Whether or not Tiger fans will admit it, we represent a game that's easy to travel to, and will certainly bring a healthy crowd ourselves to the Liberty Bowl.

If its 17-14 Memphis after 3 quarters, there will be a lot of frayed nerves in that place.

ULM is one of those teams that doesn't have a ton of confidence. if you can get ahead, and stay ahead, even if its close, they stand a better chance of folding late. If you're sitting end of 3 quarters and it's a 3 point lead or worse, suddenly the Warhawks really believe they can pull out a win, and the hopes of them fading start to go away.

The fact with ULM is, they have talent and are capable of winning. They just are not used to it at all. I fully remember their 2014 team nearly shocking Georgia Southern in Statesboro to ruin the Eagles conference Championship party despiting having shown nothing to that point to indicate they would even come close.

you neglect to mention that Memphis switched both conferences and ADs during that time frame...our scheduling philosophy in CUSA under RC Johnson is different from Tom Bowen's in the AAC.

Memphis is the most overrated team in G5,

it sure beats the hell out of going 1-11 or 2-10 under Larry Porter.

I wanna say late 2012. Bowen secured us home-home series with teams like UCLA and Kansas.

Get it ULM! Give the SBC a good OOC victory! Fedex might boycott your campus though.

Ha I am a big boy I can handle it. It doesn't change there's a lot of backhanded bashing. Can't say much bad about A State you guys beat us. Only thing I remember on my recruiting trip to A State was we went to a trailer park for a party. That's a true story. Manufactured homes are just like a glass house.

They played app close and almost a Texas AM. We had a big time QB, Solid RB, good WR and defense was solid. The 2014 team was actually decent talent wise just had a had horrible coaches. Showing nothing? Almost beating TX AM is something. I was at both TAMU and Ga Southern game.

Yes and no.
Beginning of camp it was thought Smith would retain the job. Evans kept narrowing the gap and killed it in the scrimmage. Evans has the potential to be a super star. Look what his brother did at VT (not saying he is his brother) but they have the same skill set. Smith is a gamer though . The QB battle is not really over. They're both going to play and we will see what happens.
Smith is highly thought of by his teammates but Evans balled during camp so V had to live by his words saying it was open job and the one who plays the best would start.

Yeah, ULM was the only team in the second half of the season that played us close. They were a solid team all around.

Yeah crazy how Todd Berry sucked ass. At App he didn't even try to go score before Half. He tried to run out clock. Punted to App then they came back and scored in like

Need to proof before you post, Golota! :) Yes, the QB at Virginia Tech last year is Caleb's brother although why the guy decided to go into the NFL draft made everyone wonder what was in his head. He was very good but needed another year of seasoning.

As to Smith, he has the ear of the football team and is well respected. After two straight years where an injury has brought his season to a close (8 games in and 6 games in) it wouldn't surprise me one bit that the coaches would want him around longer should Caleb be injured. Hopefully we'll escape that bugaboo in 2017.

Not sure who this favors, but the remnants of Hurricane Harvey are supposed to hit Memphis early Thursday morning and continue through Friday. Thursday's current forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of showers and storms throughout the day.

It's going to be one miserable day to attend a game.
