Just picked up a six pack of Cooper's Pale Ale and a bottle of Yellow Tail. A jar of Vegemite that has been sitting in my pantry for years will soon be opened and pushed on the family. BBQ is set to start. I'm ready. Hope the Owls are too.

Vegemite sounds like something I would call an exterminator to eradicate from my house.

You wouldn't be too far off base.

Today I've been wearing my 2003 National Champs t-shirt that shows Rice 14 - Stanford 2. Can history repeat itself? I can dream for the next few hours, can't I?

Who is on the right in this photo? I think it's Calvin Anderson. But if so, he's much bigger than listed (6-5, 285). He dwarfs all the other linemen in the photo. I think that's Godber to his left and he's listed at 6-3, 300. Is that Pierce on the far left (6-6, 300)?? There is a larger version of the photo on the front page of riceowls.com (which shows up right away before bleeding into the next photo).

Pierce, Cole Elms, Martin, Klingler, Godber, Anderson from left to right.

Might that have been the most recent occasion for these two fine programs to have contested on a neutral field?

You can't trust the height/weights listed on Riceowls.com. Blaine Padgett is listed as 6-5/250lbs, but on the David Bailiff show, Coach Bailiff mentioned that Padgett was 272lbs.

Are you suggesting Calvin was light on his numbers or all others greatly exaggerated theirs? I'd think the odds are greater on the later. Also, thats not the new font on those shirts. 05-nono

It's been a soggy arvo, all right, but only a drongo would let this cyclone be a wowser. Got a tinny and barracking the Owls for a boil-over! Some galahs say the Owls have Buckley's of beating the Cardinal, but I say we'll be within cooee of a win. So grab some tucker and a coldie, turn on the match and Bob's your uncle!

Does that translate to same old Rice football?
