RE: MBB Non-Conference Schedule
Two non-D1 home games....
I think we'll have a good team this year, but this schedule is pretty watered down. I know the deck is stacked against us anyway, but unless we win the Cayman tournament there's not a lot of chances for a quality win.

We should schedule similar mid-major teams as many others are doing. You get quality games and a chance to get quality wins.

+1. Chattanooga is a good one and the H&H we did with Stephen F. Austin was good. We need more games like that and less games like Mississippi Valley St.

Right. We seem to do 1 a year. Perhaps CUSA could begin a partnership scheduling arrangement with another quality mid-major league. Would be interesting...

RE: MBB Non-Conference Schedule
Yeah, it's definitely not an exciting schedule.
There has to be some other quality mid-majors that would play us. This senior class should have been competing with much higher level opponents by now. I know scheduling is a two way street...it's still disappointing though.

I agree, however, I think just making an effort to schedule some of the top SWAC teams instead the of the bottom team would be a start. Or do we thank football for the A&M basketball game?

Probably has something to do with Donnie Marsh being their HC now.

RE: MBB Non-Conference Schedule
The OOC schedule is uninspiring to say the least. How did Mike Davis bring in the Butlers and VCUs of the world? My perception of Davis was that he was never particularly great at the managerial duties of being a head coach. Was that an incorrect assumption? I know Davis had a much, much higher profile than Ehsan, and I assume a wider network of contacts, but still.

IMHO this has got to be one of the worst OOC schedules in our history and being in a bad conference further dooms our future
The only way to the post season will be to win CUSA tournament or win CUSA regular season (to NIT). I would like to blame our head coach but unfortunately - we are simply currently perceived as that bad of a program - simply a cupcake where playing UAB will hurt your RPI.

Maybe one day we'll get someone who considers it a destination job and would be willing to crawl here to come and take us back to our former glory days.

I would guess its considered a neutral site game, as well...

Agreed and have said that for years...I like Chattanooga, Richmond, Memphis and Auburn...
but with cupcakes like Jacksonville, Troy and New Orleans there's no excuse for:
Lemoyne-Owen
Mississippi College
Alabama A&M (in a double header with Au!)
Mississippi Valley State

It's actually not. If we play a D-I team in the Birmingham metro (<50 miles from Bartow) against a team not named Samford it's always a home game for NCAA and RPI purposes.
