RE: Another Flag Protest
There is nothing wrong with discussing the alphabet and rainbow subjects in context with other groups and movements in a classroom setting to educate students on their belief systems and goals. It is however wrong to display ANY flag on the campus outside of the National, State, Local governmental and school flags. The rest should be off limits. I fail to see how any reasonable person would disagree.

Makes sense to me. Unfortunately, common sense is a rarity these days.

I understand that public education was designed not to teach reading, writing and arithmetic; but rather guide the social belief system of children. (see John Dewey's My Pedagogic Creed)

However, schools should not be teaching politically correct views of social issues. Rather, they should focus on teach children to read, write, add, subtract, etc. That is, they should be educating our children in core subjects and leave the values clarification to the parents.

You will get no argument from me that this stuff needs excising from the curriculum in lower grades. I have less problem with it in middle or high school. You are dead on. The first 4 to 5 grades should be on basics only. Everything else after that will take care of itself.
