Network to compete with Fox News
Quote:And according to Vanity Fair reporter Gabe Sherman, Bannon met with billionaire funder Robert Mercer last week and discussed Breitbart's options for expanding into television, including a potential partnership with Sinclair Media, which owns a large number of local television stations across the US.
Sherman reported:
"In recent days, Sinclair’s chief political analyst Boris Epshteyn has spoken with Breitbart editors about ways to form an alliance, one Breitbart staffer said. 'All the Sinclair guys are super tight with Breitbart. Imagine if we got together Hannity and O’Reilly and started something?'"

RE: Network to compete with Fox News
Quote:Rumors have swirled for months about a potential new cable network to rival Fox, but any potential traditional television network appears unlikely in the near future.
As Alex Weprin noted in Politico's Morning Media newsletter, the cost of starting a new conservative cable television channel would be an enormous undertaking. It would cost, at minimum, hundreds of millions of dollars, at a time when networks are concerned with cord-cutting.
Weprin also said that any partnership with Sinclair would be hobbled by different agreements with affiliates.
Breitbart could also follow the online model tried unsuccessfully by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who launched her own subscription streaming network in 2014. But such a venture would likely face many of the same obstacles: reaching the wide swath of older conservative viewers and attracting serious revenue to compete with Fox.
Barrier to entry just seems too high. Seems like the better way would be to take over an existing channel

Wishful hoping by Alex Weprin. Amount mentioned would be nothing. The station would take 1/2 mark share the first week.

I still like your idea about VFN (cnn) going on the auction block and Sinclair, Brietbart, a collaboration gets together and buys it out.
Two birdies, meet one stone.

RE: Network to compete with Fox News
Bannon is pretty smart.
Bannon negotiated a sale of Castle Rock to CNN, which was owned by Ted Turner at the time.[48] Instead of a full adviser’s fee, Bannon & Co. accepted a financial stake in five television shows, including Seinfeld, which was in its third season. Bannon still receives cash residuals each time Seinfeld is aired.[48] Société Générale purchased Bannon & Co. in 1998.[37]

Smartest move they could make would be leaving Bannon out.

RE: Network to compete with Fox News
Guys, Sinclair is in danger of destroying significant value in their over the air properties. They go too far and they'll get huge haircuts in their ad revenues in places like Seattle and other major cities where they've spent hundreds of millions on local TV stations.
While Sinclair should be busted up as having too much control of certain local markets, there's a limit on what they can do. They're probably going to step over the line at some point in the next couple of years.

This cult would be nothing without it's leader. They need him.
