Anyone going to Annapolis this season?
I'm going to see a game in Week 2 when Tulane visits Navy. I'm from around here, but never been to a Navy football game before.

Any tips?

Peaceful town and the home fans are not arseholes. It's a great away trip.

True but the first time I went it was a monsoon and I can't remember us scoring a touchdown the three times I have attended

I get to watch about 80 pitch/option plays being run. It should be an interesting experience.

Perfect small college football stadium and the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis are bucolic.

BUT, park away from the stadium, as traffic in and out is BAD, single lane stuff that bogs down real quick. You can get stuck for an hour trying to get in or out. So i recommend parking a half mile or so away and then walking or Ubering the rest of the way in.

Come dressed as an Admiral and get good parking.

I grew up in a town about 10 minutes from Annapolis. I know about the parking. I think I'm going to park elsewhere in the city and make an unconventional day of it. Tailgating tips?

Had thr privilege of going to Navy Marine Corps Stadium twice last year, for the American Championship and Miltary Bowl. Parked in the stadium lot both times, had a blast tailgating. Getting out wasn't too bad. Nice stadium, very friendly vendors and crowds, do not miss the opening ceremonies and flyovers!

Get there early, because traffic into Annapolis can be difficult. When you arrive early, you also get to enjoy the tailgating, which is great. The Navy alumni are great hosts and all great Americans.

Heard they'll be crashing two ships together to start the game...

Good question, since my experience was for 2 atypical games. I believe that the cadets march in every game though which is special as well.

And you can't spell UCONN without "con". We don't have 'em (usually).

They are not cadets. That is Army and Air Force. They are Midshipmen -- a historical naval rank.
