Some misc. Rice sports tidbits
Just checking riceowls.com and the internet after being out of the country for a week, I see a few interesting things

First off, I see Texas Tech has announced that our basketball game against them in December is a throwback game and will be played in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. I'm not sure what type of condition it's in currently because Texas Tech has been played its basketball games in the much-larger United Supermarkets Arena for almost two decades now. Maybe we should try playing a game against Baylor in the Heart of Texas Coliseum if that place is still around.

I also noticed our men's and women's tennis teams updated their rosters for the 2017-18 season. It looks like the men lost some other players? They have a tiny roster of just 6 players (3 of them new freshmen).

Finally it's not Rice related anymore really but Marcus Evans tore his achilles apparently and is out for the next year. Of course he was sitting out a year due to his transfer anyway, but that might push his progress back a bit at VCU.

Sorry to hear about Evans, even though he ditched us

And FYI yes, the old Heart of Texas coliseum in Waco is still in use. It was renovated back around 2000 - and even now has air conditioning! I grew up in Waco and sat through many sweaty Baylor basketball games in that old, hot dump.

Bennett, David Warren, and Munch graduated. Hansen went to Cornell. Can't seem to find anything on Llamas or Malik.

Does it still smell like a barn?

Maybe we could play UT again in Gregory Gym. A&M tore down G. Rollie.
