It got a weird type of dim but not dark. Still couldn't look at the eclipse without glasses.

We were about 91% in Cincinnati. It was interesting. You could tell a slight difference in the light and the shadows were different, but that's about it.

Some of the more interesting pictures were the crescent shapes in the shade of the trees.

Aug 12, 2044 it comes through Orlando during the afternoon. This eclipse will be special because totality will last upwards of 6 minutes. Unfortunately, the usual thunderstorms will probably prevail and screw it all up for Florida viewers.

98% was still WAY too bright to look at with the naked eye. The light was just as intense just slightly smaller. The light on the ground looked like it was on an overcast day but still cast shadows on trees. I was amazed at how quickly it cooled off.

I was in a 100% area. You couldn't look directly at it without glasses until it was directly over. The "diamond ring" was really cool. People were shooting off fireworks for about 2 minutes and there was lots of whooping and hollering all around town. It was pretty neat. But, it didn't last very long.

You needed glasses all the way up to totality. Even at 99%, the sun emits light equal to 10,000 times the brightest. star.

Totality was awesome.

My wife and I agreed that Comet Haleā€“Bopp and this total eclipse were the most dramatic celestial events of our lifetimes.

Yea I was around 95% or so and was not near what I was expecting. It was still cool to see but I was a little underwhelmed. Not nearly as dark as I thought it would be.

Got to experience the Totality in Geneva, Nebraska. If you didn't get inside the 70 mile Totality band, you didn't see ****. It's 100% or no need to even go outside.

And of course it was a Shocker fan.

Had I not stumbled onto a documentary called Totality: The American Eclipse on Amazon, I'd have not known there was a difference. Education on the issue in America is dim at best. Most people will say they've seen an eclipse and have little enthusiasm for it. Some will confuse solar with lunar as well as partial with full. There is nothing like a total solar eclipse.

This is what I saw at 1PM in Nowhere Nebraska.

No worries though, there will be another one in 7 years and it appears the period of Totality will be 4 1/2 minutes instead of this years which maxed at 2 mins and 41 secs. I think I got around 2 mins 34 seconds in NE. Two and a half minutes went far too quickly.

I had about 2 min 8 sec and I agree, it was a fast two minutes. Awesome experience. I was kind of like you in that thinking the 90% we would have in VA would be cool enough but then started reading about it and decided we I had to pack up the family and get in the path. Totally worth it. It was beautiful.

When did the conversation switch from the eclipse to when we lost our virginity?

Well, hopefully I get to experience again before 2024

RE: OT: Total Eclipse
I drove down to SC. Stayed in Florence, SC on Sunday night & then drove to Manning, SC Monday morning. There it was about 2:24 seconds of totality. Clouds were intermittent but cleared up for totality. Totality is absolutely surreal. It truly is incomparable. 360 of dusk sunset, coronal halo in the sky, Mars to the right, Jupiter to the left. I cannot wait for 2024 to try again.

I read months before the event that if you think you have experienced a solar eclipse, then you haven't. Now I truly understand what that means. Absolutely incredible.
