RE: Bourne and Joey D discuss TV
If I were an AD in today's world, I would not want a conversation like this in print either. Too easy for the message to get twisted around. Just look at posts on here where the intended meaning gets twisted around and is changed completely.
Best to have conversations rather than emails especially if one or both parties have the potential to get or already are upset.

RE: Bourne and Joey D discuss TV
It's very telling when leaders are afraid to have their words in print. Last time this happened, it was Bourne blaming King & King blaming Bourne for the botched playoff bid. It's always hard to keep track of lies...

Yes, I blame both of them for the opportunities that they have squandered for our university over the past 10+ years, they should be removed from their cushy lairs and sent packing. Won't happen though because we are positioned well.

Could this be an example? "No invite" being intentionally delivered by the administration as JMU does not have an opportunity in place of JMU has an opportunity but the opportunity has been turned down?

I fell like you are describing the opposite of leadership. Most people put their statements out there and take questions in a documented forum (newspaper, interview, press conference) so the intended meaning doesn't get twisted and changed.

The bottom line, the CAA Commish screwed up, and JMU will now bear the brunt of his failure.
I honestly think JB is as frustrated as the rest of us. JB has tried (continues to try) to put a soft-spin on the deal (required due to the position JB's in), but this feels like (and it is really) another total failure. Somebody needs to own up to the failure, and pay with their job. I think that guy is the CAA Commish, however, I'm not letting JB off the hook.
JB has been at his job for 20+ years. The training-wheels should be off. JB is well past the "on-the-job training" phase of his career. How JMU keeps getting sucker-punched is baffling. This "non-linear" TV digital-streaming fiasco is a real body-blow to the defending NC's program, and to the entire CAA FB identity. And as much as the new CAA Commish screwed the pooch, it is also JB's burden to bear, and JMU fans are going to suffer the consequences. Saying we'll learn from this and do better next time is no consolation. In fact, that statement makes me see red, and only throws fuel on the fire.
The low-ball bid for the playoff 5 years ago (the first in the new BFS) was also a "learning" experience. JMU got snookered, and then JMU grossly over-bid the next year. These failures may also be laid at the feet of Charlie King, but ultimately they're a reflection of our AD's preparedness to represent JMU's best interests.
I realize Joe's only been on the job a few months, but some screw-ups are big enough they can't be overlooked. Problem in firing him is that he reports to all of the CAA Presidents, and the FB only schools don't "wag the dog" when it comes to league clout.
National media exposure for JMU is going to take a big hit this season if our FB program (as expected) makes another successful run to the NC. That hurts, and it is a gross disappointment.
Agree with everything except NATIONAL media exposure won't take a hit, but rather REGIONAL will. Its not like JMU was getting CAA matchups last season nationally televised with the old CAA deal. REGIONAL media exposure will take a big hit compared to last season with the CSN/ASN deal. That is still a big effing deal. I know last season with CSN-PHL/TCN/ASN I was able to watch/record I think 4 JMU CAA games, and for those in VA & the D.C. area under the CSN-MA/TCN/ASN it was 5? of the 8 games.
I mean how many of us have parents, grandparents, family, friends etc who root for JMU but aren't hardcore like us on this board and aren't going to deal with the streaming ****?
Absolutely, could not agree more. This is a failure of epic proportions and I think JMU would be well within their rights to be vocal about how disappointing this deal is for JMU. Not sure what being a good conference, corporate guy gets us here.....looks like nothing to me.

If this Joey D guy shows up on campus again (like to the VU, RU, or playoff games) I hope there's enough people who will just hound him mercilessly..

RE: Bourne and Joey D discuss TV
We can't get exposure because we beat people too badly. That is honestly one of the most BS lines I have ever heard.
Are you kidding me? This is why JMU always gets the short end of the stick.....if our director of comms buys that, no wonder we always get pooped on.
Largest fanbase, best team, budgets dwarfing our conference mates. But yea, no tv for you because you're just too good.
Competency must not matter much in the JMU admin ranks.

RE: Bourne and Joey D discuss TV
These are lies by omission. The "network" didn't reject JMU for being too good. They're referencing the fact that each school got to choose a home game to air & none of them wanted it to be against JMU. I'm sick of this half-truth bull****.
WHY IS MISLEADING THE NORM FOR THESE LOSERS?

RE: Bourne and Joey D discuss TV
If this is the response I don't know what else we need to do but tattoo "Get the hell out of this conference" across Alger's head while he's sleeping. That may not fit on his forehead but probably would on his baggy suit. I mean, my hands are in the air at this point. It's not like we can't or won't lose a conference game, but we've made so many investments that nobody else has.

The things some of you guys post is boarderline radical. The anger level far exceeds the action or in this case your perceived inaction of the administration. I have no issue with you disagreeing with the decisions of the administration. What is concerning is the amount of venom displayed in your posts. It is honestly a little scary. How can there be so much hate in you for something as minor as conference affiliation and TV contracts?
