Ha! Love it Hyper. Look bro, I am a bit older and have seen a bit more than you. Day will come when you will be bantering with someone a bit younger than you and your years if experience will mean you know just a bit more.

I go the extra mile because I care about JMU and it is like family to me. I might beat on my brother but you better not try to do so. Trust me. We have good people at the top. [b]You don't get to where JMU is without them.

Where are we exactly?

We're too good for the G5 to play us, too snobby for any G5 conference, except the one that has no interest in us. We're in a conference with essentially no peer schools where we win football games 86-7 and 51-0 have one game on television this upcoming season as the defending NMFC.

So exactly where are we in your mind? Inaction and lack of vision have us pinned between a hard place and a hard place, with empty rhetoric and half truths leading the way.

meanwhile,

we have a brand new hoops arena on the way that will be the envy of all but UVa in the state.
a softball team that is regularly ranked high and competing at a national level.
a women's hoops team that can't win less than 25 games a year if they try and regularly outdraws P5 programs.
soccer, field hockey, lacrosse teams that continue to improve and win and get ranked.
increasing donations year after year.
and oh yea, another national title in football that has re-energized the fan base and got us 3 nationally televised games on the biggest sports network of them all. (by the way, that's 3 more ESPN TV games than just about any G5 member got last year)

but all anyone wants to focus on is football conference affiliation. yes, FBS is where we belong and would be nice. But it's not the end all be all. There are so many good things going on with JMU athletics. It's a shame no one can ever see that. and i don't really care if some fan in Texas or California or Illinois doesn't know our softball team kicks ass. or our women's hoops team has won 24+ games every year straight for over a decade. i care! And i think it's awesome.

the G5 landscape is littered with universities who threw all their eggs in the football basket and are suffering in all other sports and financially. I'm not glad we missed out on opportunities that were available previously. We had some decent ones available to us. But I'm also glad we don't act irrationally. the issues and situations are not as simple as many on here make them out to be.

You and I are coming at this from completely opposite directions. I attribute most of the successes you mention above primarily to the student athletes that put in the hours in practice and in the class room to be winners on and off the field. Many of the good things that are happening at James Madison can be attributed to excellent student athletes that take their "jobs" seriously and an excellent and passionate alumni base that comes out in droves to support every single program that we have.

We have been and will continue to be successful in spite of our administrations shortcomings and double talk. The administration knows this and is happy to take advantage or their constituents because at the end of the day, they know just how much we care about our beloved University and WE like to celebrate the success of our students athletes in very large groups.

How anyone can listen to Jeff Bourne speak while not having every single BS detector warning light on I will never understand.

Thank you for your viewpoint. I couldn't agree more.

so the success of softball is not in the hiring of Dean and building a new softball complex and providing them an incredible education and college experience? Did the student athletes provide all that or are they the benefits of the work that was put in to help them reach their potential?

did the student athletes raise the money to build a new state of the art hoops arena that will prove to be a game changer?

do other schools student athletes simply not work hard? We just "outwork" them to win?

what? i'm confused i guess.

I think it important to remember that all JMU sports are fully funded to NCAA maximums.
