Tired of people getting hung up on the ODU game. This was the team and game Liberty wanted to open the inaugural FBS season with. They also had to help pay ODU to break some commitments to make thsi game happen. Their goal is to establish a rival game with ODU. Hey if Liberty has the money to make games happen or be able to go to a regional FBS team at no cost and get them to come to Lynchburgh, all power to them. I can't remeber when a new FBS team made such an entrance and have yet to play their first FBS season.

So far, every P5 is a net positive for Liberty. Using the agreement with VT as an example, they pay us 500k for each game at their place, and then we pay them 250k for them coming to Lynchburg. The entire series is a 4-2, so Liberty will net +1.5 million.

I just checked Liberty's schedule for 2018. Impressive for an Indy. However, it is confusing because the teams listed do not match the logo of those same teams. Which is correct? Examples:

Troy Oct. 13, but Tulane logo
Idaho State Oct. 20, but UIW (Incarnate Word) logo
New Mexico State Nov. 24, but Baylor logo
New Mexico State is on the schedule twice Oct. 6 & Nov. 24

These may have been addressed in earlier posts which I did not read. Just curious.

Troy, not Tulane
Idaho State, not UIW
New Mexico State, not Baylor
New Mexico State is correctly on the schedule twice in 2018 and 2019. It's an unconventional agreement, but beneficial for both schools.
