Sun Belt: South Alabama

The Jaguars had a little bit of fun last year on the way to a bowl game, but this season they’ll have a more dangerous offense to go along with an improved defense that’ll be fine, even without a few stars up front.

The biggest key is the schedule, with no Appalachian State to deal with with with Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas State at home.

Okay, I get AState at home is nice for USA, but why did the article ignore they have to play at Troy?

Because playing at Troy would not be a key that would make us a sleeper pick. He was pointing out things that could play out that would get us to be SBC champions.... Playing at Troy does not help us.

South Alabama has a tall order playing GS in Paulson too. Not an easy task even for the conferences top teams.

Troy and App State both had a hard time in Paulson last year. Troy, a former top 25 team, lost in Paulson and we were tied with App, the league giant, going into the second half. App had lost in Paulson two years before. This year we get StAte at home for the first time in history.

We are familiar with Troy's stint in the top 25, having played them at their place when they were ranked. App being a giant is news to me. They have been the most schedule aided team in the country....certainly in our conference. With the exception of CC, we've beaten everybody in the conference at their place except you. We've yet to play GS at their place. We are looking forward to it. It's kind of odd to be in the conference that long and still not had a home and home with everybody.

I hope to see some video of this creek you guys speak of all the time. We have a couple of creeks here in Jonesboro. When Turtle Creek floods it puts 4-5 feet of water in our mall parking lot.

Have you guys had the Cajuns at your place yet?

Hey, mine too!

I also think it's funny that we're credibly a sleeper. We finished 1 game back and tied for 3rd last year and return the coach and most of our biggest contributors. But since we're being picked 6th or worse in a lot of places and the betting line is 16/1, we're a legitimate sleeper pick.

I agree that USA has a pretty good conference schedule and good team returning to play it.

No no we all know it revolves around Chapman and the energy draining App State team. Without those things happening then the world would revolve around APP

I think ULM could be a sleeper if our schedule wasn't so hard. Gonnna be tough with this schedule. 2018 is our year.

They used to be the monkey on our back. They had our number every year, even during our title runs. Then 2015 happened and all was right in the world.
