I think I get where you stand on BL. He likely won't hurt us, but isn't good enough to lead us to an exceptional season.
I actually like him (can't put my finger on why I like him as much as I do) and think he will be at least as effective as DW. So my question is would you be comfortable if DW was our QB this season?

If BL turns out to be as good as DW I'll be a very surprised, happy guy. All he really needs to do is play within himself, not try to make to many plays happen.

Johnny Manziel

Exceptions. What is the value in pointing out exceptions? For every exception I'm guessing there are a couple thousand examples of undersized kids not making it.
I think that an undersized guy that can move is fine in today's college game. Frankly, if all skills except size and mobility were equal, I would take the 5'11 dude that can move over a 6'4 dude that is a statue.

I was a big DW guy. I was calling for him to replace SB before almost anyone, and couldn't be happier with what he gave us on the field and in the locker room. But, he was a pretty average QB that did not make a lot of mistakes. I believe that BL has the physical skills to do at least that. I haven't seen enough to know if he has the mental skills, but if he does, he will be fine.

I agree. Washington was pretty darn good. I'm not yet convinced LaRussa is as good as DeMarco. Just trusting the coaches and waiting to see.

Washington was much better than average. He was 3rd in the conference in QB rating. He had same amount of TDs as Stockstill with 75 less attempts. Was 4th in yards per attempt. White and Higgins were the cream of the crop (White by far) and then DW was every bit as good (probably better) than Mullens and Stockstill.

You are right. What I was calling average, and what is average for CUSA definitely do not align. DW was much better than average as a CUSA QB.

Lol at Sonny Jurgensen as an example. That's some good humor. I gotta get Scott Jackson to take the rare look at our boards. Sonny would be very proud to see this.

Blake has the qualities and certainly is a winner. He guided Bishop Sullivan to a State Title in 2014 and a 12-0 record. They than lost their coach before the start of his Senior year. However, Blake followed it up with a 8-3 Senior season. I'm sure there was a lot happening his Senior year that may have influence the play of the team. Blake's Jr year was actually better than his Senior year.
Overall the two years he was the starter
Total Passing Yards
6111
Passing TDs
76
Passing Yards/Game
265.7
Pass Completions
303
Pass Attempts
558
Interceptions
13
His Jr year he passed for just under 4,000 yards his Sr year.... 2,300

After his Junior year in regards to the Coach.
The Crusaders averaged 480 yards and 50.1 points per game, and during the regular season they won eight of 10 games by 21 points or more. In two VISAA Division II playoff games, the Crusaders won 45-23 and 50-44.
"Coach Carl Turner has decided to step down from his position as head football coach at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School," the statement read. "Coach Turner expressed that he would like to spend more quality time with his family, enjoy watching his son play college football and focus on his professional career."

VT just installed a dual threat quarterback as the starter.
I expect ODU to put a dual threat QB in the backfield as well. I don't care if it's Hoy or Arnold.
Putting BL in the backfield would be equivalent to child endangerment.

He would be a sitting duck and our ground game would be stifled. Everyone would stack the box and come after us and make us pass.
