Four years ago, App's offensive line play was horrible because of years of sub-par recruiting from the previous four years. There was a two year period App signed exactly two OL's and neither played a down. Plus, the OL coach in 2010 and 2011 was BVG-level bad current NFL starter Kendall Lamm even quit the team in 2011 because that coach was that bad.

When Satterfield took over, the OL was rebuilding but it would take time. Add on the S&C Coach at the time being a Crossfit believer and the team got soft. Jamal Jackson never recovered from an offseason ACL surgery and had to be replaced by Kam Bryant, who had no arm strength. Bryant still had the App record for completion percentage in a season, but it was all dump passes and crossing patterns.

The team wasn't really an Air Raid team in 2013. Marcus Cox was a freshman that season and we knew he was special two games in. Satterfield tried split backs, but it failed, so West Coast offense it was until the new S&C Coach started seeing results in 2014 and Satterfield installed an H-Back and the young linemen could pull off stretch run play.

Yea Michigan getting skull drug the following week at home by a mediocre Oregon Duck team isn't relevant I guess.

A loss like that can set the tone for the season.

I know some of you were waiting for this to come up:

Also, ten years ago Nick Saban had his last on-the-field loss to a G5 team when ULM beat Alabama 21-14. It was a home loss at that.

2007 was a hell of a year for upsets all around!

9-4 with a bowl win is mediocre? Give it up Yeller. You're making a fool of yourself.

In no way do I think the 2013 UF team was near as good as Michigan. That said, people can always argue semantics. Is App's Upset a win over a top-5 team despite the fact that Michigan went on to go 9-4 with losses to three unrnked teams? Should GS get credit for beating a top-10 team just because the gators started 2013 in that spot? I say the answer is an easy no for both, but there will always be someone to argue the details.

This isn't semantics. This is a game for the ages. I understand people are tired of hearing about it, but every five or ten years it's going to be brought up again.

For many fans (including non-App fans) they can remember where they watched it or first heard the news. Easy for me, I was in row 89 with some of my best friends.

No one is saying it wasn't a huge win. If anything, I was supporting your point.

I have no problem with APP fans reliving the greatest upset of all time. The only one I think that may be been bigger was Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson.

JMUs win over Orange Bowl Champ Virginia Tech was probably more impressive, but you know, no one knows who the crew on the Apollo 12 was.

Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, and Richard Gordon.

Struck by lightning twice during launch. Thankfully the EECOM remembered something called "SCE to AUX" to save the telemetry and power. It was an obscure switch but Alan Bean remembered where it was from a training mission like a year before.

I watched the hell out of From the Earth to the Moon back in the day.

Nah that's the guy who beat Rocky, but Rocky then beat him later, but then Mr. T beat him, and I think Mike Tyson beat him before getting beat by Buster Douglass.

This is all connected somehow.

Creating a thread touting a signature win from 10 years ago will likely get some spit balls particularly from GS fans. Would I trade GS's for Apps? No and I doubt ULM would trade the Bama win or others. Most of us are tempted to post nice articles written specifically about our schools but resist. The Michigan win we all agree may be worthy of it simply from the hype lavished all over the place. I tend to agree with the earlier post that the hype is over blown. My point is simple. If the 2007 Michigan team that eked out a win against the likes of Eastern Michigan and lost to App and curb stomped by the Ducks at home played the UF team that played for most of the 2013 season it would have been a close game. Never said one was better than the other. Just making the case using some numbers. Smiling a little at first but with all the smart folks bowing up about it I'll step aside.

As most App fans were cheering for the Eagles against the Gators. It was great pub for our schools, conference and division.

Lots of haters here. I think i've seen Doug Flutie's hail mary at least once or twice a season since 1984. You might be seeing or hearing about this game as frequently moving forward. That's what happens when you make history. So hate all you want, but this story will never die.
