I am a big Dolphins fans a Doughty has struggled a lot in camp the last two years. He is ok in a bunch of categories but his arm strength cause a lot of ball to arrive late and be picked off.
I am a fan of his because he went to high school 2 miles form where I grew up but he isn't cut to be an NFL QB.
.
Being an NFL QB is often being at the right place at the right time unless you are just super talented. Brandon is a terrific young man and was a fantastic college QB but I thought her would already be at least a backup. I just wonder why the Dolphins are hanging on to him and just don't waive him so he can at least have a shot with another team. I think he has a shot but has to be the ideal set up for his skill set. A lot of good college QB's never made a splash in the NFL, Graham Harrell comes to mind.

Rakeem Cato also comes to mind. Smart QB with great leadership skills. If he would have been just a little bit taller and gained a few more pounds, he would be in the NFL still today.

Doughty has struggled in camp according to local beat writers. I don't think he will make the PS this year. He will definitely not make the 53. Someone may pick him up, but he only looks like another camp arm to keep guys fresh. Probably out of the NFL after next year.

Jay Cutler is a moderately above average quarterback of his era *at best*.

Graham Harrell? Wow...

Not Tebow? Or Wuerffell? Or Manziel? Or Leaf? Et al?

Graham Harrell belongs on a list with other Mike Leach QBs along with Jeff Tedford QBs and June Jones Hawaii QBs...

Doughty is a super guy. More than likely a super teammate as well. His arm strength will probably keep him from ever making it on the field. Will succeed at whatever he does (if it's not football).

That's too bad. I thought the arm strength was just enough. He could make all the throws on the field but there is such a fine line in the NFL because the DBs are all super quick.

Yep. The db's in the league are a little better than CUSA or the SunBelt. He was a great college qb, though. Nothing wrong with that.

Jeff Driskel is killing it in Cincinnati. Take a look at Driskel's run in this video:

Quote:Driskel went eight for nine with 97 yards, one touchdown, and had a passer rating of 148.6 He also led the team in rushing yards with 34, and his rushing touchdown was the spark that ignited the Bengals offense.

I commented on this after seeing him in Ruston, the arm strength is just not there. That is something that is really hard to develop. He is a small frame guy but even will added strength and muscle, NFL arm strength and mechanics is hard to develop.

He was a good college system QB

Driskel is better than McCarron, it will be interesting to see if the Bengals trade McCarron.

RE: Brandon Doughty playing on TV
WKU Fans last season said Mike White has a much better arm than Doughty and we were made fun of....I agree Doughty just does not have the arm needed to fit the ball in extremely small windows in the NFL....He might could make it in the CFL, but like others I am not worried about Doughty, he will be a professional in whatever he chooses to do even if outside football....

Now back to White, I think he has a chance to do something in the NFL...He is a former baseball guy who unlike Doughty has a very strong arm, will be interesting to see if he can stick in the NFL, he at least has a chance to...White is also more mobile than Doughty....Doughty also not being mobile at all does not help him either...

X-Man Xavier Woods is already making his mark on the Dallas Cowboys. They love him.

Brandon cannot be any worse than the 3rd-stringer Alex Tanney the Titans put on the field on Saturday.

But he's 6'4" 220 so he must be good enough to run an NFL offense. 03-banghead

At least he knew to get the ball to my guy Taywan Taylor!

No

So, Cutler got hurt today. That might be the best thing that's happened to the Dolphins. Matt Moore led the Dolphins to almost as many points in one quarter as Cutler had in any single game all season.

Oh and Cutler ranks 32nd in the NFL in QB rating. As I foreshadowed in my original post in this thread I still can't believe they gave him $10M. That's what was worthy of the 01-wingedeagle
