I think you described our expectations. We almost knocked off Wisconsin. That's a best case. Losing to Memphis and Penn State is not a best case.

Hey as long as we give you the beat down you deserve I really could care less. But really after a 3-9 season would you really be that unhappy going 6-6 and back to a bowl game?

RE: Article: Best Case/Worse Case for each Sun Belt team.
I was bored this morning so I decided to do my own totally uninformed and unrealistic best case/worst case prediction for each team cause why should the Statesboro Herald have all the fun.

stAte - best 10-2 / worst 6-6...stAte has a lot of talent (just ask our favorite Indian poster) so I just can't see them going worse than 6-6. The only two games I feel will be out of reach are Nebraska & Miami.

App - best 11-1 / worst 7-5...App is loaded with a very favorable schedule so if they can get past Georgia (probably not) they might just go undefeated but on the other hand I see at least five teams on the schedule who have the talent to pull an upset.

Coastal - best 6-6 / worst 4-8...First year FBS teams have fared well in this conference recently but Coastal has a lot of starters to replace from last season.

GS - best 10-2 / worst 4-8...So many unknowns surround GS this season. We have the talent to win but not the experience. At least two of Auburn, Indiana, stAte or App are most likely an L this season.

GSU - best 8-4 / worst 3-9...If GSU can find consistent play they will finish on the better side of my prediction. Penn St, Memphis, Troy, GS, App and Idaho will be tough games for sure but the rest should be very winnable.

Idaho - best 8-4 / worst 5-7...Idaho still has a lot of weapons left in the last FBS season so I'm rooting for them to at least make a bowl one last time.

NMSU - best 6-6 / worst 1-11...NMSU I'm actually going to miss you guys but I see so many Sun Belt teams on your OOC schedule in the next few years it will almost seem like you never left. The Aggies will probably do better than my 1-11 worst case but unless I'm missing something they just don't have the talent to be too good.

USA - best 8-4 / worst 3-9...USA has always been a hard one for me to figure out. Just when I think they are going to catch fire they lose to a nobody and then when I think they are bad they beat a somebody. I look for more of the same this season.

Texas St - best 7-5 / worst 3-9...I read where some writer said TX St didn't have any all-conference type talent on the team. Don't be surprised if they change someone's mind on that. They will be better this season I'm sure of it.

Troy - best 10-2 / worst 8-4...Like App Troy is loaded so if they don't go on the upper end of my prediction a lot of people will be surprised. Boise, LSU, GS, Idaho and stAte would be the most likely teams to give Troy trouble this season.

ULL - best 7-5 / worst 2-10...Not going to lie ULL is talented so 7-5 is entirely possible but at the same time they are not so talented that they will overwhelm most teams so that means they have a lot 50/50 type games on the schedule this year.

ULM - best 8-4 / worst 4-8...ULM is built to run and with the improvement I saw out of them last year I have high hopes for the Warhawks this season. A tough schedule probably means 8-4 will be a stretch but don't be surprised if they go bowling this season.

That's what I expect. Not the best case. Hell, Trent could get 5 wins from this team.

Penn State should be really good and Memphis is a popular pick as a team that could make a run for Access bowl. In the best/worst scenario, I don't think you should put something that would be considered more than a moderate upset or moderate screw up into the range.

If you're going to account for every possibility, then WolfBird has already made the list much shorter and less interesting - but technically correct - by listing every team at 14-0/0-12.

Unless someone is playing Hawaii this year and getting an extra game, no one can play 14 games since we don't have a championship game.

So 13-0/0-12.

(2 games for a national title)

If that were to happen the American Conference would really nut up.

Yep. I think in fairness it should be A-State to do the honors since Memphis was probably lose their minds the most. lol

Actually, the entire football world would implode if Idaho was to represent. There would be suicide watch in Boise for years to come. No, harming yourself is not a joking matter, unless you are wearing Blue and Orange. Go Troy!

Fair enough, but I think the article was doing its best to have a good shot of having all teams fall within their range.
