I really don't get the pushback here.

Look at State's accomplishments the last 5 years. It's comparable to programs like West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Iowa, etc. If we scheduled a 2-1 with any of those teams, there'd be little to no bitching. People complain about no P5 home games then we get one on the schedule and we still complain.

You'll have a guaranteed sellout in 2024 and if we win just 1 of these games, we can talk endless amounts of ****.

As for them cancelling the 3rd game, I doubt it. Only way that would happen is if the SEC went to 9 conference games which could squeeze us out. I believe Nebraska had a 2-1 (2 in Lincoln, 1 at Soldier Field) with NIU but they cancelled the game in Chicago as the Big Ten added 1 more conference game to the schedule.

No.......USM, among the nations AD's who make scheduling decisions, is still a respected program and a respected opponent regardless of your opinion on how we need to bend over and take what they give us. Ask some recent non conference opponents like Kentucky or Washington that played us during our "rebuilding years". If ECU can schedule home and homes with VT and West Virginia, and UCF and USF can schedule home and homes with GT, then USM is perfectly capable of doing the same with the teams you mentioned. We have done it in the past with NC State, Cal, Illinois, etc...we can certainly do it again. Don't use your poor, "it's who we are now", logic to brand us because it's simply not the case with those that make the agreements.

...Never thought we'd have a 1 game whore game with State same as we did and will do again with Alabama....but that's how much better they have gotten and how much money they have and how big they have grown their budget the last 20 years......while SM?....well, we didn't do much of anything to keep up with anybody did we?

Look at it from State's POV. They can turn it around and say they've signed 2-1 with LaTech, USA, MTSU, UMass, etc. Why should they sign a 1-1 with us? State is better than NC State, Kansas, Virginia, etc. That's just reality of it, unfortunately (channelling my inner Hop).

And USF, UCF, and ECU aren't our peers anymore. Very tough to admit but it's just the truth. We are on par with the ULLs, USAs, and LaTechs of the world. Thank you Richard Giannini.

We could push back the Troy game but most teams are totally booked for 2019. Not sure who'd we replace them with. Already have our FCS game scheduled (Alcorn). Would have to scramble.

Yes. MSU is interesting football, and I will be at all three games. Will try to make both home games with Tulane. Can't say the same for the 1-1 with ULM. Schedule interesting football. This announcement is a win. These games will produce more buzz and trash talk than any other games till 2024. Not to mention more profit than maybe everyone except Alabama. Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime.

Name one time a FBS school ever went to any of those 3 schools and played a football team.

We certainly have a bunch of fans who have no appreciation of our history. Go look at the schedule when Brett Favre was a senior in 1990. Three home games, one of which was Delta State. Go look at who some of Jim Carmody's teams had to face in any given year. He never got to face MSU in Hattiesburg, but managed to beat them 4 of 6 times.

Some of you snowflakes need to stop and see where we've been before.
