25 Days to Kickoff... #25 R-Sr. RB Cardon Johnson
Cardon enters his final campaign in purple & gold having returned from yet another injury. When he's been healthy, he has been very productive. I'm rooting hard for Cardon this season as he deserves a full season and adding to the quality depth we have at RB will just make this 30 YARDS AND A CLOUD OF DUST offense we have even more lethal. A native of Newport News, he has already graduated from JMU and is now in grad school. Good luck to Cardon this season. Get another ring!!

I honestly thought Cardon was our best RB when he was healthy. Great parents too.

As excited as I am for Marcus Marshall, I really hope Cardon has an even greater year than him. Run it down their throats!

Amen! Big "if" I realize, but if Cardon had not been knocked out of action his R-Fr. season, it is conceivable he could be entering this final season with a shot at becoming the all-time leading career rusher in JMU history. Marcus Marshall's dad, Warren, of course owns that label with 4,168 yards. Cardon has 1,741 and that's in "only" 21 games. He lost 6 games last year in addition to the R-Fr. season (read: ~18 games missed). Of course Warren Marshall wasn't playing 15 games in a season either I realize.
Also, it is as much a testament to the Offensive Line's excellence as well to see Cardon averaging 6.4 yards a carry 2 seasons ago and then 6.2 last year. This is in addition to Khalid's 6.1 ypc and Sharp's 5.6 a season ago. When guys are chewing up that kind of yardage on the ground, it just wears a defense down...and, the balance makes Schor and his receiving corps even more explosive. Ahhhh, can't wait.

When he was healthy I thought he was the best RB. Before finally shutting down last year he kept playing with a worsening Achilles problem. Then it got to be too much. So even in the games he did play I am not sure he was 100% in more than a couple of them.
Now the issue is when will he be 100%? Or even close to 100%? Achilles recovery can be slow.
I really hope he gets there because he is a great kid and a great runner.

After I posted this, I saw Cardon on the Meet the Dukes on Aug. 19. I asked him: Cardon , last year were there any games where you felt 100%?
He thought for a moment and said: No, there were'nt any.
Stay healthy Cardon!

OL created gaping holes in 2nd half, Cardon's bursts of speed helped seal the deal. Challenge for coaches now is how to share the rock w/ talented stable of running backs- a nice problem to have.

Glad the OL is getting some love for that effort last night. They opened some holes even an older farteker like me could've got at least 10 yards. As far as that nice problem to have, these guys are now setting the standard. That is, if you don't take it to the house, then you are underachieving. :>) (j/k...well, sort of)
We could easily have 2 RB's who rush for over 1,500 yards this year. Love Khalid and all he did for this program. Great talent and especially his leadership. If this group stays healthy, we are an upgrade over last year at that position (with no disrespect intended to the great KA). Our 4th string RB starts for over half of D1AA (IMO) and some G5's.

Does that include the playoffs and a trip to Frisco?

So what you are saying is that he needs to pick up the pace to break 4K? I'm down with that.

All I can say is welcome back Cardon Johnson!!!!! Great to see him back and at full speed. Missed him during the end of last season, especially after he had such a great first half of the season.
Guess his achilles injury is fully healed and raring to go!!
