The summer rest period is almost over. A couple schools have stayed represented all summer, GaSt with their stadium, GaSo and App with their constant family love, stAte with their best local radio in the league. But then there are some that seem checked out, like the Louisiana schools and NMSU.

Ready to move into a season and get this next Bubas Cup fight started!!!

It's been a long time since I've been on this site. I've been looking at PantherTalk because I'm excited for Georgia State Stadium's opener, so I can't wait for some GSU Football

That guy went from "the world's greatest next football coach" to "does ULL even want him anymore" real fast.

Message boards are dying out. People read and hear whatever they want from Facebook and Twitter which is quick takes and copying links. Running out of people willing to engage by typing so much. Like or favorite is so much simpler than replying.

As mobile takes up more and more of traffic it will just get worse.

Traditional message boards may be less and less popular, but Reddit has only gotten bigger and bigger every year. I recognize quite a few names on here on the r/cfb subreddit so I wouldn't be surprised if that's where some people have moved a majority of their posting to.

Fans will always talk more when there is something to talk about (new stadium, coach, etc). Teams that are winning will have more fans talking. Not too much to say when a team is expected to not compete for the title. GS and App fans love to smack talk but even GS fans have died off since the team has a new coach they don't like. Troy fans came back out of the wood work when they improved and UL fans took their place in the shadows.

Cajun fans are their own worst enemy when it comes to the name game. They are so easy to stir up, and stirring up another fan base is always fun. If they would learn to gloss over every time some said ULL, ULaLa, Lafayette and not react, the name calling would stop. The only reason it is harped on is because it's so easy to get a rise out of them red bellied fools.

I've never gotten a reaction out of another fan base when taking stabs at them like I do from those kids that go to school at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. And that is the correct name of the school.

It's crazy how much they hate it.

I feel like they'd rather lose and be called Louisiana than win and be called Louisiana-Lafayette.

Let me cauterize this subject with the following: Grow a thicker skin.

We , as mods, are not hear to coddle users and fan bases. I'll say this again, once you start trying to defend the feelings of one group, it snow balls into everyone wanting some sort of protection from labels. I always apply the "edge of the wedge" when it comes to matters on the board.

You think I like seeing Stink when referring to Statesboro? I deal with it and ignore it. Some folks should try and not let the internet offend them so easily... maybe they should consider some other medium that provides the desired "safe space".

Tech troll hasn't been here since Cajun fans haven't been here. They go hand in hand. I know there has been a running thing with one Cajun fan and a tech troll that has gone across many websites. They always find each other. So the Cajun fan got banned, and the tech guy goes away. I'm not privy to all the background, but it all evolves around the name game. You guys are tired of it, the Cajun fans are very tired of it (but not stopping now). The mother ship and the NCAA are on board. The corner is turned.

If sites like RP and Barks and Bytes can auto correct, respectfully, I don't buy "we can't". You say certain curse words on some sites, blank appear, other auto phrases appear...but this site it cannot. Sorry, not buying it. Heck, even ULM's old Scout site banned the name of what is know as "TOS" since it kicked out posts with TOS's name.

Auto Corrects were removed by administration after it was decided Memphis could not censor the phrase Tiger High anymore.

There are nearly 100 College Athletic programs represented on this site. If we censored every single phrase that a fan base didn't like, we'd blow up the servers. You guys know its an impossible request, so I'm not buying it.

Ragin Pagin, BB&B and others are privately run sites representing a single school. They can censor what they want.

Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Arkansas State, and ASU all decided on their conference identity as to their name they wished. ULM administration decided not to contest the UL name and its now recognized as the conference name. Why shouldn't we all agree with ULM to let it go. If we attended UL and with that other school up north named Lafeyette, we would all be screaming as well. I also recommend that all try to make a game at UL. You will not meet a nicer group of people in the country than the cajun folks.

Sticks and stones boys and girls. Again, the only reason this is an issue is because people let it be an issue. Ignore the name crap and people quit making a big deal about it. The only reason it continues is because people get so bent out of shape about it. That's why I do it, yes, it may be hard to believe to most of you that I'm guilty of the name baiting... but it's such an easy way to get under their skin. I do it because they(fanbase, not mods) let me get under their skin so easy.

Stop reacting to it, and people will attempt to find a new way to poke you.

Some Georgia Southern fans still refuse to refer to Georgia State as GSU and will use GaSt instead. Do you want to get Eagles fans and Panther fans at war again about the letter U.

Yes, but that's not the point. The point is that board policy prevents us from censoring use of offensive phrases about individual schools, and that it's impossible as a mod staff to police every time someone uses a school's name incorrectly

The reality is, fans have to develop a thicker skin when it comes to name issues. It's just not something that you can expect all other fans to immediately adopt.
