So Anthony Oliver says he'll be at ODU in January. I assume he has to sit until next January to play? Hopefully we get an article today explaining his eligibility.

Possibly. But he didn't play a game this season, so I would hope he could play next fall.

He isn't playing this year, so my guess is he's eligible for 2019-20 season and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining for us.

Great news ! Solid shooter and player. I hope he is eligible at the start of the 2019-2020 season. He is more of a 2 so we still need that PG and a 6-6/6-7 SF.

Don't give the coaches too much credit. Jones got lucky that Aj's dad played for him at UVa and was teammates with Stith. That's the only reason he's coming.

Great news. Glad I didn't panic yesterday :)
With the way waivers are going and how the NCAA is way more lenient, I would guess he has a decent shot at starting in the fall.
Assembling talent.......

I read that he is RS Sophomore so by sitting this year doesn't he burn a year of eligibility? If so, i would think he would be eligible next fall with 2 years remaining. Hope that's wrong.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2019
For anyone that has seen them both, how would you compare what we get in Oliver to what we hoped to get in Christmas? Did we end up with a better one, about the same, or a little less? Or are they two different player types altogether?

Oliver is a much better player we just don’t get four years out of him

Good start. We could use another PG as well. May have a monster lineup in a year or two. (I know, it's always a year or two, but what else can we go on?)

Good news, I think he needs a year in residencey. He's a top level shooter.

We have had one real shooter in the last decade, Trey Freeman, and we had him for only 2 years. Can you imagine how good our ODU viewing lives would be with a real reliable shooter? Oliver, Kithcart, Wade, Ezikpe, Reece, Dickens seems like a pretty good core. If Green and Godwin could be reliable scorers we might have a future.

You’re forgetting the X factor.......Jeff jones destroying all of their confidence.
The reason trey was so awesome is because Jeff never got the chance to ruin him early on his career.
Yeah I said it, prove me wrong. The best shooter we had left school, Huett, because he didn’t like Jones.
The proof is in the pudding.

"The best shooter we had left school, Huett, because he didn’t like Jones."
Partially true, but far from the whole story. He didn't like Jones because Jones corrected him in practice and, unlike Godwin, who put his head down and worked, Huett went off and sulked. Head numerous stories about assistant coaches having to go get him and "coax" back onto the practice floor. . . . In addition, coaches wanted to change his shooting style because he was too often off-balance when hew let it go. He didn't go for it. . . . So, yeah, he didn't like Jones -- but no one over there is missing him, I can tell you that. Lame, Razor, even by your (low) standards of insult.

It was odd. Seemed like a very good kid from a good family. Apparently does not like coaching trying to coach him.
