Liberty Adds Two More With UMass
http://www.newsadvance.com/sports/damien...93694.html

Liberty previously announced two road dates against UMass and now two home games. I think both schools have a lot to gain by this series and think it would be wise to play annually as independents.

We've got Army coming to Lynchburg in 2021 too.

Yep, I'm pleased with this. It will hopefully be a very winnable game.

To be fair, I expect them to be saying the same thing about us.

Hoping for a competitive and fun series. Thought this would happen with both of us Independent and your AD, Ian McCaw was a former AD at UMass. Nice finally knowing the dates.

I am sure they are, and I would expect nothing less. As a matter if fact they should feel that way. They have a few more years experience at the FBS level.

And good luck vs. ASU this year.

Thanks, looking forward to see them. Don't expect to win, along with at least 5 others and probably a total of 8 losses.
Most of us tend to be realistic. Having a new defensive coordinator, Ed Pinkham should help. Can't expect too much in his first year, but who knows. Making extra points and field goals is an area we sorely need to see improvement.

I'll give you a hint about coming to Lynchburg from Mass. You can take Amtrak from Boston directly to Lynchburg. Years ago I did a R/T from Lynchburg to Boston and back and it was much better than driving. In Lynchburg, there are area hotels that offer shuttles to/from the train station that are within walking distance to LU. This would be a great way for U-Mass fans to spend time together on the way to/from Lynchburg. I travel with Amtrak a lot so send along a PM if you are interested and I'll be happy to offer suggestions.

From what I heard we have verbal deals with Hawaii and UNC. We're currently negotiating with Miami on a H and H deal. Nothing official until everything is signed though.

Miami I an see as a possible home and home, because Rutgers cancelled their home and home with Miami. Can't remember if it was 2018, 2019, or 2020.

RE: Liberty Adds Two More With UMass
Agree, and there is a previous posts here that made that mention of a possible UofM game with LU after the Rutgers schedule change. And with Miami's agreement to play in Boone last year against App St, that makes it even more of a possibility. As a UofM and LU fan, I could literally root for every play and I would want LU to win at .500001 per cent and UofM at .499999 per cent, the first year.

As I follow both LU and the UofM, great article on the AP wire today about how Coach Richt wants to help athlete alumni. Here's a quote:

''The U Network is a 365-days-a-year adventure, so to speak,'' Richt said. ''We just want to help our guys connect with each other in a reunion-type thing, help friendships that already exist and make new friends within the football alumni. But also, if anybody feels forgotten or anybody feels like nobody cares, we do care. And we want everybody to know that we're here to find work if they need work, or a good connection, or just know that you've got friends.''

This would be a great benefit for LU to instill into the program as I am unaware if one at present exists. The article is a worthy read. https://sports.yahoo.com/u-network-richt...ncaaf.html

I suspect Richt's faith increases the likelihood of us scheduling this Home-and-Home. But honestly the references to this series I am hearing from campus seem hazy.

I haven't heard for certain that UNC was the team from North Carolina that we have a handshake agreement to play. I just heard it was one of the big boys from Carolina. Keep in mind that the Tarheels non-conference schedule is pretty full so there may be an effort to move games around on our side to accomodate the series. Scheduling is a challenge when you have two different entitities with sliding challenges looking to match up at just the right dates.

Hawaii has made sense for quite awhile now. I am almost surprised they weren't in our first batch of announcements. But then again, they have just as many challenges in scheduling as we do. So locking in dates can be tricky.

I'll be making arrangement in Hawaii as soon as the date is confirmed! The ultimate road game. Can you call Hawaii a "road" game?

Talk about a memorable road trip. That would be way cool for the team and give the players a real unique experience. And a great recruiting tool, especially to young guys visioning beautiful Hawaiian girls in palm apparel with swishing hips and tumblers with little umbrellas. Even though I stopped partaking of adult beverages about 10 years ago, that sounds like one fantastic road game.

LU students have been traveling there to help "Christian Youth Ministries of Hawaii" for 35 years. How neat would it be to get a bunch of old friends together again at that one

Thought UMass was gonna get Hawaii and start the season with a W. It was a very competitive game. Need for UMass to be a good strong team when we play them.
