Should have won?

stAte ran App out of their own stadium in that game.

ESPN talked about the mass exodus of App fans late in the third quarter.

Should have won. Haha.

Yes. We should win every game we play.

Please don't make this a conference game smack talk thread.

I respect the mindset. I remember having the exact same thought that dreary November day when app completely derailed our 2014 season and 'Neers let us have it a full year until that November rematch in 2015

Further reason why app and Astate should play every year

I'm gonna go with Tennessee as well. Also, the 2009 game against Montana. I wish we could've put up a halfway decent game against Miami as well.

Easily NMSU and USA in 2015. Our thin defense wore out and we blew two 3-TD 2nd half leads. If we'd held on we'd have bowled that year and Staben's decision to move us to FCS would have been much, much harder to make.

2015 UGA, not even a doubt in my mind that one.

Others are talking about the muffed punt but Koo missing a gimme kick earlier in the first half is what will forever haunt me about that game.

2005 Semi Final game vs UNI; aka "The Knee heard 'round the FCS"

Like to have someone put a sock in Bailiff's mouth and at least let the guys see if they could score in regulation.

That was one of the best Jags games I've ever been to. Just sitting there in my poncho watching the comeback in the light rain was one of the highlights in our short history. Of course, I can remember when the tables were turned and we came out on the wrong side of a second half comeback like that.

A-State has had several. Maybe the worst was against Texas back a 6-7 years ago. Going from a shrinking memory, Texas was up 13-0 in the fourth quarter. We get hot and kicking their ass, score and go 13-7. We have mo. QB is playing like an All American and they can't stop him, and we kick an onside kick. We recover the ball about their 45.....but wait, there is a flag! Big X11 refs say we have 12 on the field. Heated reactions by the State bench, but refs are sure and have the final say . We're called for 12 and the ball goes to Texas. The game is over, Texas wins 13-7. Following week when team is back home, film is reviewed and would you believe it, we only had 11 on the field. Refs and the Big X11 is sorry.........the game is over dog gone it. The refs are suspended the following week but the Big 12 is certain it was an honest mistake. Sure, sure it was! Hell, Texans can't count, everyone knows that!

It wasn't 12 guys on the field, it was too many guys on the right side of the kickoff team . . . which was clearly incorrect. Screw job!

It was a great game, but for us it came the week after an NMSU defender picked off a Linehan pass with his ankles in OT to win the game. The USA game sent half the Vandal board into a tailspin about the players quitting and Petrino being unable to coach defense. Apparently they didn't care that we were only suiting up about 16 guys on D at that point. Glad nobody listened to them.

Ah, good ole UT-Austin hi-jinx. Two years ago, Kevin Hervey made a three. It was ruled a two. By the time our coaches learned of the scoring error, the refs said too much time had passed to fix the mistake. Went to OT where we came up short.

I never knew this rule existed until that game but the fact that you can fumble forward and recover for a gain on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down but not on 4th. Either make it a rule for all downs or no downs.

RE: "Close Calls" You'd Like To Have Back
I'll play.

Oct. 13, 1979 - at home against McNeese State. The two pre-season favorites squared off in Arlington. The best defense in UTA history with likely the best offense meant UTA was a force. However, a bad snap on a punt gives McNeese a TD en route to a 14-13 win. UTA finishes 9-2, 4-1 in conference. McNeese gets the conference crown and a bowl berth.

The 1985 season. UTA finished 4-6-1. Had they scored exactly 7 more points over three games, they'd have been champs. As it was they lost their opener to a very good DII school, which killed attendance. But they rebounded after an 0-2 start. The wheels came of in Jonesboro when a Scott Roper FG was ruled no good that the entire Mavericks sideline, including the future kicker for stAte, said was good. In a 10-10 tie to McNeese, UTA's 4th quarter was rough as the Mavs were stopped for no gain on a 4th and 1 13 yards away from a TD and later a RB fumbled in the end zone. Against UNT, UTA lost 23-20 when UNT kicked a FG with less than two minutes left and the Mavs missed one. UNT had the turnover edge, 4-1.

The 1986 season - Had the program not been disbanded, UTA would have returned 11 offensive starters, 8 defensive and both kickers. The stAte coach (some Georgia Southern fans may remember that team) said UTA was his pick, but then said thanks for Roper who turned into one of their best kickers of all-time.
