Wow the WKRC announcement of their new sports hire did not mention UC football or Basketball. What a shame. They value High School and FCCincinnati more.

Let's hope UC is proactive in this case; Bohn should invite Miller right now to make UC his first stop in town for a tour of Nippert and the 5th/3rd renovation; the campus impresses every newcomer these days.

And if WKRC objects, Miller can tell them he's just going to check out the home venue for new favorite FC Cincinnati.

It is unbelievable how the local media "Force Feeds "us all the news on the
Bengals (in particular) and the Reds... I am regularly in Indianapolis and they have the news divided between their pro teams and college.. Cincinnati
media goes out of its way to not acknowledge UC or Xavier... It is beyond frustrating.....

Fox19 and Channel 5 have been the best by far in covering the Bearcats. Channel 12 has been the worst by far. IIRC, the program director is an XU alum... and then there's Brad Johansen who did sports on that station for years who is also an XU alum and is now the lead anchor.

Yeah that has always been a criticism of mine for the media in this market, particularly sports radio. I can't tell you how many times after a football or basketball game they will do a 15 minute post-show with Dan/Jim or Dan/Chuck and then move on to the next segment where the in studio talent has on some guy talking immediately about the MLB or NFL draft. Hell, last year immediately following the Crosstown Shootout they had Rock Boiman on with a guest talking about the WWE. The Shootout is literally one of the biggest sporting events in town all year--- should have been discussed ad nauseum all week and a week after the game.

I think their sports programming and reporting is dictated a lot by where their advertising money comes from. And despite how bad or mediocre they are, the Bengals and Reds are pro sports.

Kind of OT, but my current and long time pet peeve is the need for every local channel to start every newscast off with Breaking News!!!

If the news happened overnight it is no longer breaking, it already broke. It's just news at that point.

They will scour all available resources to find breaking news locally, if they can't find any they will go national or international regardless of how important or relevant it really is.

Good point - I don't watch much of any news. I will watch the weather and sports, but skip everything else.

While we are ambushing local sports media, does anyone actually watch the two sports dweebs on 19? They constantly play the roll of "I'm the smartest"
and "fans know nothing". 19 could cut out "Sports" and they would never be missed.

Interesting. I haven't tuned in up there but I can't say I'm surprised. Relative to Cincinnati, major league, professional sports (Pacers, Colts) came along much later for Indy; after the mid-20th century. They have cultivated an excellent reputation for amateur sports and had big followings for IU, Purdue and ND as established brands.

Just for kicks, do folks here think UC's undefeated Sugar Bowl team got as much media love as minor league FC Cincinnati has this year?

Nope.
