I'd love that for selfish reasons (I live 25 minutes away) but there are just too many alumni in the DC area for us not to do something there locally. Doing it in an active NFL stadium might be cost prohibitive when G5 and FCS schools are involved. Not surprised the effort isn't being made, just disappointed.

The chances would be slim. You all would probably have a better shot of doing this with a P5 program, like NC State or South Carolina.

I'm not sure App and JMU could meet on a neutral field -- especially given the difference in classifications. Plus, our alumni base and our student recruiting base goes south from Boone. JMU's goes north from Harrisonburg. Now, if the JMU administration gets that corn cob loose from you know where, it could become a good G5 rivalry, but a home-and-home with no neutral sites.

You're right about the fan-base not being there in DC (for App), however it has nothing to do with the difference in classification. Unless you guys are bigger than Big 12 WVU...

I'm not big-timing here. Just the opposite.. We are G5, and we need to keep up appearances. West Virginia can afford to experiment a little.

Keeping Up Appearances is right. App State = Hyacinth Bucket

(I expect nobody to understand this analogy)

Money & exposure was why WVU did that. G5 programs don't need money or exposure? The only reason this doesn't make sense is the lack of App fans in DC, so the money factor isn't there.

And the lack of JMU fans in Charlotte. G5 programs can't generate that type of money and exposure by playing a team that won't generate the same. We are playing ECU in Charlotte in a couple of years (I can't remember when, and am too lazy to look it up). Both fan bases are well represented in Charlotte, but neither one could pull off a crowd of, say 50,000, alone. West Virginia can.

I think JMU playing at Howard University is more our speed unless another school arranges a game and drops it in our laps a la WVU @ FedEx.

Eh, we do OK in Charlotte. Would be interesting to see which is a bigger crowd (JMU in Charlotte or App in DC).

I don't think either would be enough to cover the rent of the stadium, but probably JMU in Charlotte. It's not an easy drive from the western side of NC to Northern Virginia -- much less Maryland.
