If that isn't rock bottom, I don't know what is.

Good luck with that. Not only is he Brandon's younger brother, but Brandon is also an assistant coach at NSHS. I highly doubt we will see Devin waver...

Brandon should talk to the many UVA transfers we've picked up which are having more success at JMU.

Based on highlights, Mateo looks like a Gage Steel type of linebacker. Eyes everything and breaks through the gap to down the ball carrier.

RE: 2018 FB Recruiting
I am absolutely loving the fact that we are consistently out recruiting UVA on MANY recruits. I feel like it's at 4 or 5 just this upcoming class. We're getting their transfers. A few recruits last year had some UVA offers I think.

What does that say that the #2 P5 in your state can't consistently take recruits from you? Smell the roses JMU fans. Enjoy it.

Dukes commit, Rakeem Davis (Rashard's younger bro), took the opening kickoff to the house in Charlottesville's blowout win over Fluvanna Co. this past Friday. Just like big brother, hope to see a lot of that in purple in the coming years.

Glad to see more kids from my high school alma mater getting college scholarships! Having Fontel Mines on staff with JMU certainly helps, as he played for Coach Kane at Hermitage too. There's been a lot of talent that's come out of Hermitage, so hopefully JMU can continue to lure kids from there.

Speaking of, my wife and I spoke to Rashad Robinson's mom before a game earlier this season... we mentioned that we went to high school at Hermitage the same time Fontel was there, and she said that he recruited Rashad while he was at Richmond. She was very complimentary of Coach Mines and said that she was glad their paths crossed again!

Edit: tweet from madia:

Can confirm JMU has received 2018 commitments today from South Pointe (Rock Hill, SC) CB Jamari Currence and Blacksburg K Camden Wise.

My nephew and niece went to South Pointe HS. They have had some great players and teams (at one point I believe in the 3rd year the school was open they were ranked #1 by USA Today in football) Jadeveon Clowney went there.

South Pointe definitely benefited from the way they redrew Rock Hill HS and Northwestern HS district lines (at least athletically). Overall academics in Rock Hill and the majority of South Carolina suck.

Amidst the madness...anyone see recruits? Year 3 will put us at 50-60% MH recruits, so we will get a gauge of how good or great he shakes out in this area (note. The bar starts at "good" these days... what a hire)

RE: 2018 FB Recruiting
We're now just under 7 weeks from the first early signing period for CFB (Dec. 20-22, Wed-Fri). I read an article yesterday online suggesting the P5 programs expect a lot of their guys to 1) sign during this period and 2) finalize some commitments earlier than normal so they will sign early. It will be interesting to see this first go around the effects, if any, of this new early window. And, the trickle down effect to G5 and D1AA. Will some guys who have aspirations at a P5 get the message earlier and more factually without being jerked around that their chances of getting that offer aren't there as guys ahead of them sign earlier, for instance?

Hopefully, Coach Houston and staff are able to lock in the vast majority of their targets early so they can focus remaining recruiting efforts on the few remaining guys out there undecided for the next period in early February. Further, the more of our targets we can sign in this early window it takes that much more burden off of a staff who hopefully is coming off a playoff semifinal win and now preparing for a national title game in Texas.

A lefty. Wonder if he can catch. Good speed, not outstanding, but excellent size for a WR.

If his Hudl is accurate then having a 4.55 40 is plenty good speed

Yes, especially if "excellent size" means 6'2" and above. Keep winning those jump ball tosses.

Gage Moloney is a lefty QB as well. Houston must have a thing for them.

Anyone know about other schools that offered him? Can't find his 247 page anywhere
