$500M / (10 schools * 12 years)

Sounds like it started at $4M a year per school, and escalated to $5M a year per school at the end of the contract in 2025.

That was a completely different scenario though. They were going to a network that just started knowing they would have poor ratings. $$$ over exposure. Now it isn't bad because FS1 is on most cable packages.

If we get $4-5 million, I'll be happy with everything considering. If NBC is likely to make another run at us and they know espn will just take it if they low ball.

Here's where I see two HUGE differences this time around.

1). The rating have been MUCH better than expected and MUCH better than other G5's. Nobody knew that in 2013.

2). There is no right to match. Networks know it's a fair playing field and they are not wasting thier time bidding. Plus---it means ESPN can't just sit back safe in the knowledge that they will have the automatic opportunity to match. If they want the AAC, thier strategy will have to be different in 2019.

I'd take Colorado State.

How the Hogs looking this year? My oldest daughter will be a frosh there this fall.

We likely would have to take those two in order to land Air Force. We don’t need to go any further west than that in my opinion—especially after the way BSU acted an A$$ last time….

Expansion west doesn't make sense any longer outside of BYU.

I think there are two teams worth considering for AAC Western expansion:
Colorado State
Air Force

Not sure you'd want both, however.

Expansion west doesn't make sense any longer outside of BYU.

This sot of: Taking on BYU FB only would be like playing a western P5 team. However for balance you would need at least 1 more school. Army in the east would be ideal for the conference. If Army chooses to remain independent then Air Force FB only would work. You only get Air Force with BYU and /or one of the range schools -Colorado ST or Wyoming - preferably Colorado ST. No one seems to like New Mexico as an expansion candidate but they would work great geographically with the Colorado schools.

The AAC is already too spread out so the western wing should be condensed with Air Force and Colorado St for all sports. BYU like Army isn't coming but scheduling arrangements with those schools plus inclusion in bowl packages would work best for them. ESPN would love the BYU tie in because they would cover all the BYU games whether they were played at BYU or at an AAC school. This would force the MWC to take a step backwards and force them to pick up schools like Idaho and New Mexico ST to get back to 12 schools.

AAC West:
1. Navy / Wichita St
2. Air Force - all sports - makes the Navy game a conference game for both freeing up an OOC game for both schools. Cuts travel to the west coast and Hawaii. Any west coast travel they would desire could be scheduled OOC and Wyoming could stay on all their sports schedules as an OOC opponent.
3. Colorado ST - all sports.
4. Tulsa
5. Houston
6. SMU
7. Tulane

AAC East:
1.UCONN
2.Temple
3. ECU
4. CINN
5. Memphis
6. UCF
7. USF

The football season for conference games would be 6 and 2 instead of the current 5 and 3 divisional play with the Championship game at the end of the season.

The BB and Olympic sports would play H & H games divisionally and at least 2 to 4 rotating cross division games a year with a play off system for the Conference Championship depending on which sports are involved.

The AAC should have at least a 4 game scheduling agreement with each of BYU and Army (2 built in with Navy and Air Force) and work together for on bowl arrangements either playing those schools in a bowl or adding bowls to cover off on any bowls they make be in. 07-coffee3 04-cheers

I think you would see BYU & virtually any of the MWC schools reach out to the AAC for membership if the AAC were to get $8-10M/school. And that number is a real possibility IMO. Such a TV contract recognition would put the ACC on entirely new ground. And the interest of the best of the rest might actually help get the AAC P6 recognition it seeks.

I guarantee that we will have spoken to byu regarding potential pay days with byu in the fold before we negotiate. Conference moves are always a part of negotiations.

Ditto ^^^
I wonder how BYU would work out during tournaments on Sunday. This question came up last year in regard to the Big 12.
How the Big 12 can easily accommodate BYU not playing sports on Sundays
