Yes Liberty is on the move, but adding them would probably also require adding another school to the west division for balance. Does CUSA really need to be 16 schools? This would spread the paltry TV money even thinner, and that $24 million would not make up for it. And how would that 16th school be? Arkansas State? Troy? Would a Sun Belt school bother to leave to become 1/16 of CUSA?
Side, I see your point, but you have to admit that Liberty would be an upgrade for any number of our current CUSA schools, plus it would be an easy drive to a conference game. If CUSA and the Sun Belt don't join forces and make some geographic alignment decisions that make sense we may have to play at LU every year for the payday. Just to pay the exploding travel bills

I do believe that if a CUSA/Sun Belt realignment happens, Liberty should be a part of the conference. It would be good to have a conference member that close.

Sharing their story is all well and good. Sharing their story while not acknowledging any of the negatives they present is opinion and not journalism. It reads like a press release straight from Lynchburg.

Present all sides of the story and let the reader come to their own conclusion.

What are those negatives? Increased competition for recruits in our region? I guess if they joined CUSA the minuscule amount of media dollars would shrink, but that would be offset by the savings in travel and added value of earned media. Otherwise i don't see any. The political stance of their president is only a reflection on them. I don't see too many schools freaked out about being in conferences with Notre Dame, BYU, Baylor, TCU, Dayton, Villanova etc.

None of those schools, to my knowledge, are actively aligning themselves with a president of such incredibly low moral character. You can't have it both ways. You can't claim to profess Christian values then align yourself and endorse someone with such "deplorable " values.

Pretty much all conservatives were labeled "deplorable", by the liberal candidate running for president ... remember?

While I am sure that there are millions that would agree with your political rhetoric, I am equally sure that there are millions more that do not agree with it. The truth often lies somewhere in between.

This is not so much about politics as morals. Jr. made it political by bringing in the president to his campus and endorsing what he stands for.
Again, we are talking about hypocrisy and making deals with the devil.
You simply cannot profess to believe in the teachings of Jesus and at the same time stand shoulder to shoulder with a moral degenerate like the president.

I'd hate to see what you would call political bias if that doesn't fit the bill.

That is a good point. And when we play them, it should be on their network.

Their "network" is them buying time on mostly low power tv stations that (at least here in greater NYC) aren't carried by cable operators.

If anyone wants to avoid politics while talking about LU's morals, please see their AD and why he is no longer at Baylor.

LU certainly isn't alone in having a coach or an AD that had a past morality issue as a skeleton in their closet. Not saying that all morals issues are the same. They're like shoes. They come in a lot of colors, materials, styles and sizes, but they all have one thing in common ... they're shoes.

Memo to the world: Unless you're Prince (and you're not since he's dead), stop using numbers as words. I had to scan it a few times to figure out if he meant "for conservatives" or "four conservatives", which made me think there was a block of right-leaning presidents that pushed for them in both conferences. Way too early to say whether it backfired, but they certainly are taking the ball and running with it on their opening play.

They're going to have to figure out how they want to advance with the rest of their sports. I'd be willing to wager that they want to get out of the Big South in a hurry, which might be as much a motivator for conference affiliation as having a ticket to FBS was. Right now their basketball is decidedly low-major, but if they start making big investments there, where can they go? The CAA probably wouldn't take them, the SoCon isn't much better than the Big South, the OVC is not ideal geographically and not a long-term answer anyway, and the A-10 is, at best, a stretch goal. And as much as we'd all like to see Falwell break bread with a cabal of Catholic presidents, I think we can safely scratch the Big East off the list.

If they continue to build respectable schedules in football, do they dare think about going indy in the other sports? It makes getting an NCAA hoops bid next to impossible, but if they're willing to make it rain from clouds populated by their online students (do you think they take Bitcoin for tuition payments?), then who knows?
