VT as H/H with BYU, Liberty and ODU
http://www.roanoke.com/sports/virginia_t...8799b.html

The Hokies will host the Cougars in Blacksburg on Sept. 26, 2026, before making a return trip to Provo, Utah, on Sept. 14, 2030.

The new ODU agreement adds games in each season from 2026-2031, with the even numbered years in Blacksburg and odd numbered years in Norfolk. The Hokies and Monarchs already had seven games on the schedule through 2025, starting with the programs' first-ever football meeting in Blacksburg this year on Sept. 23. ODU is in its fourth year in the Football Bowl Subdivision and is a member of Conference USA.

The Hokies will play Liberty six times from now until 2030. The schools had a previously scheduled 2020 game in Blacksburg. Tech will make two trips to Lynchburg to play the Flames in 2022 and 2030, while Liberty will come to Blacksburg three more times in 2027, 2028 and 2029. The games in 2022 and 2027 will take place Nov. 19 and 20, respectively, presumably before the traditional late-season game against Virginia.

These four schools have essentially built a scheduling alliance. The ODU-Liberty contract extension only goes up through 2022. I'd love to see us scheduling each other longterm as well.

It's kind of strange to schedule so many games out into the future. I'm not complaining though. And it can't hurt Tech's recruiting in the 757

I bet $20 they blow you off for that last game. So you in essence signed a 5 for 1.

So is ECU no longer going to be a regular for VA Tech?

VT has past political support to pay back - this does that.

I don't know for a fact that will happen, but having that second road game at Liberty is pretty conspicuous.

That remains to be seen. We have ECU on the schedule for 2017-2020 and 2022-2025. This latest announcement fills up our OOC schedule until 2030. So there will be at least a 5 year gap in our play. ECU is on the schedule to give us exposure every other year in North Carolina because Duke and UNC are home and away the same years.

I think it's going to come down to whether an additional game in North Carolina every other year is more valuable than a game in the 757 every other year.

We already had a game schedule din Blacksburg so we essentially added a 3-for-2. I'm not worried about the 2030 game as that sounds like three lifetimes from now. But keep in mind that from a Tech perspective it is a local road game with what should be an easy victory. There's not going to be a big rush to dump that date. And if they do, the buyout will be just fine.

Yes, but App and Charlotte are now available as well as Coastal in SC. I can see plenty of two for 1 games in the future.

Seriously, I cringe every time I see the University of Alabama or Auburn pay some little helpless school a million dollars for an easy win. Especially when you have the University of North Alabama, Jacksonville State, Troy University, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, UAB, and Samford all within arms reach.

I like seeing VT scheduling local schools for their G5 OOC schedule. All of the games at ODU give them exposure to to alums and recruits in the more populous east side of the state so that's a win win.

I agree with Rutgers Guy about that last game at Liberty--wouldn't be surprised if they back out of it.

I also wouldn't mind seeing them mix it up and throw a Charlotte or App St on there ocasionally.

I'm guessing ECU is to much of a threat for an OOC G5 loss so we will see less of them on Hokie schedules.

I agree but with the caveat that P5s need to strive to instate G5s on their schedule as buy games and the G5s can in turn have buy games of their own against FCS. Watching SEC schools put up 70 on Charleston Southern is simply not entertaining or worth watching.
