Any of you near an Academy Sports they have an easy shade 10' x 10' canopy on sale for $40. The legs are slanted so you only get 8' x 8' true canopy coverage.

However, this is a nice starter canopy and can fit inside your parking spot if that is an issue. I have one as it comes in handy for road tailgates.

Comes in 6 color choices too.

Buy canopy leg weights too...trust me on this.

Amazon if you have prime has some good ones.

This is a great little grill. It takes quart-size, disposable propane tanks. I get mine at Ace Hardware for $3.50. I typically cook half-pound burgers 2 at a time. It takes 5-6 minutes per side for the burgers be well done, still juicy and have a nice sear. I get 4-5 uses per tank. There is a larger tank that might be better for tailgating.

It's not the hottest cooking surface but it will sear meats. It says it cooks 8 burgers but like most grills it is cooler around the edges. You will need to move stuff around to get even cooking. It's very portable and cools reasonably fast.

I bought this because as a temp because my $400 stainless steel Kenmore rusted out (grates, drip guard and drip tray) after 3 years. It looks like this one will easily last 2 years.

Tailgating? What is this? When I watch the games on espn I sit on my couch with a beer or a soda. I also have my remote in my hand to switch from espn to ESPN2 to espnnews to espn Classic to espnu. I also have remote in hand and ready for a good game on one of the espn owned conference networks.

Tailgating is something that I've heard is very fun to do. I've never done it myself, but I've always wanted to. From what I've heard, basically, you need a tent/canopy of some sort, a grill, and some sort of beverage(s). You talk with your fellow teams fans, your friends, etc., share food, drinks, etc., and then go into the stadium and watch the game.

That's great. I hope to make it up to ya'lls place next season. Now that I no longer do automotive I'm not tied to the office as much.

BTW I got your message and called you the other day. I left you my new number on your voicemail. I saw on FB where you were up on Lake Ontario. Give me a call sometime.

May I suggest turning the TV on then opening a window. Proceed outside to the drive way, drop a tailgate and fire up the grill. If you want the full effect of being at an away game you can:

Get your neighbor to throw bags of urine and scream obscenities at you can pretend you're playing in Morgantown.

Or you can get him to be really nice to you, share his food with you get you drunk and pretend you're about anywhere else in The ACC.

Have fun.
Happy Tailgating.

I've never had a chance to tailgate much since I did marching band and now live far enough away from Miami that I only get back for homecoming when I'm busy with alumni band. For that, I have to settle for the alumni tent with an open bar and buffet before having to stumble on the field with a Yuengling can shoved wedged in my sax. It'll be interesting this year since our homecoming against Cincinnati is an 8 PM start, we almost never see that kind of timing except for November MACtion on a weeknight.

Word to the wise. If you plan to use a table top grill, make sure your table is aluminium. I've seen several rookies ruin their nice folding plastic table.

If you don't have an aluminum table, use the tailgate of your pickup. If you don't have a pickup, you got bigger problems than where to put your grill before you use it.

This is going to sound dumb, but stick w/ me....

....my gf bought me the Bob's Burgers cookbook as a joke, and it's actually fantastic. Some of the burgers take a little bit of planning, but there's no way they wouldn't bring any tailgate up a notch.

I know using a cookbook that's based off a cartoon series sounds goofy, but trust me.

Give it a try...for rookies it is best to try simpler things on a larger scale. If your tailgate group is under 10...it shouldn't be too hard to tackle more complicated items.

Just remember if you plan to do burgers on the road...I personally stay away from foods that throw off a ton of grease unless I have a truck to hold the grill. Usually I don't have a truck and I'm just bringing 1 or 2 smaller portable grills. We usually stay with coneys and subs on the road.

If you are down South...Publix offers these up (Ringleaders and large platters).

These are better for larger scale tailgates over regular Foot Long Subs.
