OT-MAC to "speed up" football games
At the MAC Media Day the conference was explaining the number of ways it was going shorten the length of the football games.
But the one thing that would actually work is to cut the TV timeouts from 5 minutes down to 2 minutes. And why is there media timeouts if the game is being streamed on ESPN3?????

You want to minimize misery and prolong pleasure. Go to 20 minute quarters.

You've never watched a game on ESPN3? They have commercial breaks just like a regular TV broadcast.

Typically it's one or two ads, played on repeat at every break, followed by a "your game is at commercial break" screen for a minute or two. Real exciting stuff.

My guess is it isn't the "MAC" that is doing this, it is the "ESPN" that is behind it. I hate this crap. Why don't they leave the "game" alone and speed up the "commercial breaks."

The older I get, I'm fine with the length of the commercial breaks. I just don't need so many of them.

Case in point - watching the Riders game on WatchESPN. 6:41 left in Q1, and I've already seen the "sunburn" Snapple Mango Tea ad four or five times. Highly likely that I will punch the first person I see holding one in public. Still 3+ quarters to go. It is, however in 1080i. So, any deficiencies in UT ESPN3 broadcasts are on the broadcast partner, not the ESPN3 service.
