RE: FS2 starting to broadcast more games
FOX has a bunch of Big 12 games on their regional RSNs. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of them get pushed to FS2.

More games on national television is good for everyone. I hope FS2 rises to the level of quality games and carriage as ESPN2

I'll take CBSN or ESPNU type carriage for FS2.

At least the ones with premium cable/satellite tiers, most of which FS2 is stuck on. Better than not being on at all, but hopefully Fox can get FS2 on basic tiers like FS1.

I don't have the P12 net but do get all the others including RSN's. On a typical fall Saturday there are 35+ games available. How much is enough?

RE: FS2 starting to broadcast more games
FS2 would not get a leg to stand on on the Basic Tier lineup. Adding more sports networks on the Basic will speed up cord cutting with people who can't afford to pay the skyrocketing cable bills thanks to ESPN and other sports networks that wanted to be on the Basic lineup.

ESPN/2/U should always have to be carried on the same tier. Same for FSN/FS1/FS2.

IMO

I'm surprised it took this long to start ramping up games on FS2.

IMO, ECU/WVU deserves better than FS2. Liberty/Baylor belongs on FS8...

It's because FS2 is in only about 50 million homes. The Pac-12 TV contract only permits Fox to show football games on channels that are in at least 80 million homes, and I suspect that there is a similar clause in Fox's deal with the Big 12, so Fox could only show the Baylor and WVU games on FS2 after getting an OK or waiver from the conference or the home teams.

Wonder if the networks will ask the conferences to renegotiate those 80 million thresholds given how fast the cable channels are losing TV homes. FS1 and FS2, like the ESPN channels and almost all other established cable channels, are losing a few hundred thousand TV homes each month. (source) At the current rate of subscriber loss, FS1 might be in fewer than 80 million homes by the end of this year.

No FS1 that week because of golf commitment is the reason why ECU/WVU is on FS2.

Yeah i'm doubting that math. A few hundred thousand a month? Well by that estimate it will be 3 people with cable by next Christmas. haha

RE: FS2 starting to broadcast more games
Traditional pay-TV operations (cable/sat) are going to start offering channel bundles in the $30-$40/month range with no sports channels, to compete with the online streaming products.

That's just the way of it ... that's what they have to do to survive. Of course, rental fees for the boxes and fees for HD/DVR will still be there ...

They are already doing it really.

RE: FS2 starting to broadcast more games
I doubt in most markets you can currently get a $30-$40/mo channel bundle with no sports channels from Comcast Xfinity, Charter/TWC Spectrum, DirecTV, or DISH. But I do think that will be coming.

You're probably talking about online streaming services, Sling, VUE, DirecTV Now, etc. But that's my point, the old/traditional style services are going to be offering those smaller/cheaper bundles to compete with the online streaming stuff.
