The return of UAB
I know there was a lot of talk a couple of years ago. They killed the program and then brought it back with full CUSA reinstatement no penalties, etc. I'm sure they are going to be the media's feel good story of the year.

So what's the general thought on UAB?

There were several interesting dynamics to this. One was that many of their recruits were allowed to sign with UAB and have set out of football since their program was killed, without losing eligibility. Some of their players could potentially be 20+ year old freshmen.

I will say this, kudos to Coach Clark. He has stuck by their program during it's toughest time and has continued to build their team. The greatest accomplishment is being able to retain the players and keep them motivated even when a true game was not in the near future.

They'll probably break attendance records the first home game, so they'll probably have 15,000 at the game. By end of season, the 10 die hard fans will be there.07-coffee3

RE: The return of UAB
One of the things that I didn't understand about it was that they made this major decision to kill the program and stop the bleeding. Little interest, little fan support, no money etc. I have no idea what all reasons and details of it are. Then there is all this local outcry about it and they decide to reform after what like two months or something. They are building this new football facility. I just can't imagine that all of the old problems are just going to go away now.

And CUSA lets them back in with no penalties or anything. Hey just kill your program and come right on back in.

Also, what made everyone start caring so much? They were bringing 6,000 fans to every game and suddenly they've sold 9,000 season tickets? Doesn't make much sense.

Clark is a huge part of it. I think he might be a special head coach. Good on the field and also great at selling a program. Similar to Fedora, but maybe better at the selling part. Fedora talked a lot, but some of it was fluff without any substance. Clark has a lot more substance and ability to change things for the better.

Maybe selling them a little short there...they got over 8,000 for their spring game. There is an air of excitement and a lot of momentum around their program right now...how long they can sustain it, is the better question.

But they have an opportunity (whether it is fair or not) to do some good.

I listened to Bill Clark yesterday for the media day...well polished, loyal (to a degree) and exudes confidence...they may or may not win, but those players DO believe in him....

Anyone who voted to let them back in needs their arse whipped. The only people in the state of Alabama who gave a shite were the bunch of doctors who ponied up the survival fee. Shoulda traded them for Georgia State and jumped headfirst into the Atlanta market...course nothing good ever came out of Atlanta.

Coca Cola? Bower?

Seriously, if you're ever in Atlanta, drive up to Roswell and visit the Jeff Bower Shrine. It's a really heartfelt and well done tribute. Any local can show you exactly where it is, just ask around.
