So, would John McCain's surgery be covered under the Trump plan, at the same level, based upon McCain's status as a US Senator on Trumpcare policies available to the public at the same price and contribution levels as John McCain's.
No. Nor under any other plan, including Obamacare. That's part of the problem. Our laws are written by people who are not subject to them. Just like Obamacare was.
Under Trumpcare, I won't be able to purchase a policy AT ANY PRICE that covers me comprehensively for major surgery in Texas. I'll be moving to Long Beach, CA if that happens. I know of many that are looking at California. If you're a portable person with assets, and a business that you can move....and between the ages of 30 and 65, you better move if this passes and the GOP states go with scam 'insurance' policies.
And the GOP just put a rider in the Senate Bill exempting them and their staffs from Trumpcare.
You've spent the last 4 or so years complaining about the ACA in Texas and threatening to move... so color me unconvinced on your convictions.
MOST things look good on paper, especially when you presume that everything else is going to suck... Come on out and see what it's really like.
FTR, you're not in the group (according to you) that is positively impacted by medicaid expansion, yet that's your biggest complaint about Texas... that they didn't expand. Outside of that, it's the ACA that failed you... not Texas.
Interesting tidbit... between 2010 and 2016, the growth rate of Texas has been DOUBLE that of California. Texas is 3rd, Cali is 17th

Since Cali expanded medicaid and Texas didn't, maybe there's more to 'where to decide to live' than insurance?

Congress controlling health care is crap.
Any branch of the federal government is crap. It's not a Constitutional responsibility.
It's not precluded by the Constitution either. It's a matter of what the citizens want.

Correct. Tom is butthurt that he lost his insurance plan, and when he got his new Obamacare plan, he found out he had then lost his doctor and hospital. He was bitten by the lies of Obama. And yet, he blames the republicans in Texas.

RE: Health care
Obamacare created winners and losers. Tom thought he was going to be a winner, so he was all for it. We told him over and over again that it was a zero sum game, but he didn't believe us. When he found out he was going to be a loser, he decided it must somehow be the republicans' fault, although what happened to him is pretty much what we told him all along.

RE: Health care
Murkowski has killed Plan C today, so there won't be any repeal-only bill coming forward.
Looks like it's on to Plan D: we can't do anything, so we'll try to pretend that we can't be blamed for healthcare.
That'll fly like a brick, with voters.

Bring it to the floor for a vote and see what Murjowski does. She's already voted yes on repeal once. She campaigned on repeal. She just doesnt want to vote for anything.

RE: Health care
Trump has already conceded that won't happen, though. He has already today tweeted the new GOP boilerplate on healthcare moving forward to 2018: we couldn't do anything, so we can't be blamed.

RE: Health care
They need to chip away at the problem if they want to actually solve it. If they continue on this path, we're going to be headed into 2018 with not just healthcare worries, but healthcare anxiety.
The democrats need to take this as a chance to offer the president some support. Based off of Trump's past statements, he is in for universal healthcare. Maybe a primary care public option? You can do the bill in less than 20 pages. It will go a long way toward uniting the country.

If you want to get technical about it then it is indeed precluded.
It's called the 10th amendment
Quote:The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Absolutely. If they vote to filibuster reform, they have to know they are voting FOR Obamacare. And their constituents will know it too.

I agree with this. It would isolate the 'symbolism over substance' parts of the Republican Party... and Trump is on record against numerous Republicans anyway.
Democrats could win a lot of votes if they were willing to/able to do with Trump what they could demonstrate that Republicans wouldn't.

All I've heard from Dems is to be given the chance for an actual bipartisan solution to real problems with ACA that they acknowledge need help. Hope they get that chance, but not holding my breath.

Glad we largely ignore that amendment. It's mostly without merit.

"It’s not just that Republicans have said for years that they would repeal ObamaCare — they actually voted to do it. In December 2015, a bill passed the Senate that was more stringent than the version now struggling to collect GOP support. The 2015 bill only tried to repeal ObamaCare (although it fell short of that goal), while the current bill attempts to repeal and replace, i.e., forge a Republican alternative.
Only two GOP senators voted against the 2015 repeal, Susan Collins of Maine, who is still a “no,” and Mark Kirk of Illinois, who is out of the Senate. Every other Republican was on board, and celebrated a righteous blow against ObamaCare."

Because in her eyes it prevents the government controlled nanny state that she desires.
I seriously question the sanity of people who are not only willing but enthusiastic about giving the government both more of their hard earned money and control over their lives, and when it comes to government funded and run healthcare they are literally giving some faceless, unaccountable bureaucrat in DC control over their health.
