NMSU Recruit Can't Tell the Difference Between NMSU and UNM
An unnamed Aggies recruit posted that he had received an offer from NMSU and let's just say he clearly needs someone to manage his social media for him[Image: 1f8562621f98bb158bdf2a2190ce5898.jpg]

LOL I once saw some football recruit post UNMs logo when he tweeted "blessed to recieve an offer from New Mexico State". It was a year or two ago, dont know whatever happened to him but I laughed hard

I was out at Walmart, so I had to keep it contained unfortunately.

RE: NMSU Recruit Can't Tell the Difference Between NMSU and UNM
The Sports writers for the LC Sun News and ABQ Journal keep track through out each collegiate season of NMSU and UNM being confused with one another.

UNM's volleyball team went to either UCF or FIU for a early season tournament. Team logos were printed on T-shirts for the tournament. NMSU was represented well.

Overall it is nothing new.

RE: NMSU Recruit Can't Tell the Difference Between NMSU and UNM
It's interesting that this thread is NMSU specific and it's current but because it's also negative about NMSU none of the "WAC" posters are upset or offended. Yet a thread was started about NMSU having an 11 year run of being in the top 3 in the WAC, which is also NMSU specific and current, but because it's boasting about NMSU's dominance that offends the other WAC posters. That thread had to moved. And, the thread title had to changed to read "a WAC school" instead of NMSU to make some (not all) people happy. Shouldn't this thread title also read... "A WAC Recruit Can't Tell the Difference Between a WAC team and a MWC team"? ...Just so it's inclusive to all WAC teams.

Look, I could care less what school specific topics are started on this on this board. There is always a way to put a WAC spin on it. The problem isn't the subject matter. It's decorum of certain posters; threads escalating into name calling, and mud slinging. If we get to a point where all topics need to policed and sorted into "school specific" boards, I will put up stakes here and move back the Aggie board only or post my thoughts on the this conference on the old WAC scout board.

Back to the topic at hand, NMSU is recruiting JUCO Freshman Darrell Bowman (6'8", 270-lbs) from Shawnee JC. He is the young man who inadvertently used a picture of the Pit in his NMSU offer twitter announcement. NMSU and UNM have been mistaken many times in the past. If this kid signs with NMSU, he will learn the difference. The other thing I find interesting is this kids physical size. His physical build plays in to the narrative that Jans intends to turn NMSU into a physically imposing team much like Wichita State.

Exactly. If an Aggie poster post a positive story here all the crybaby GCU fans and one Bakersfield fan get their panties all wadded up. Post away Frank! I wanna see some more Aggie highlights! Maybe we should start a thread about GCUs fantasy rivalries with ASU and U of A! Lol!!!

This should actually be on the NMSU board for the record.

I never see any other states with two state-named schools have this issue so often. Wonder why. Maybe just what comes up in Google images

Some people still think New Mexico is a part of Mexico. So, there is not a great amount of effort by some people to learn US geography. For some people, anything from New Mexico seems to be lumped up together. NMSU...UNM... makes no difference to some people.

I just posted it here because I thought we all could enjoy the humor, but apparently this happens for often than I thought, so I could care less if it gets moved.

That is why our state quarter looks like this:

An attempt to educate the rest of the US.

(NM's unimaginative quarter was designed by an engraver and close friend of the moronic Governor at the time.)

Im kidding!!
Im just lol....at some peoples (not necessarily here, but in general) perceptions of different places. NM always seems to be portrayed poorly, as does my area (thinking all of Bakersfield is like Oildale). Some other areas like LA, some think its all like Venice Beach or Beverly Hills.

RE: NMSU Recruit Can't Tell the Difference Between NMSU and UNM
I was in Phoenix this weekend and several relatives are ASU alum. I told them GCU fans consider ASU rivals and they couldn't stop laughing. They basically said GCU is a joke to Arizona State students. To be fair they started talking trash about NMSU and I quickly reminded them how we spanked them in Tempe and how I was with them when even our football team beat a ranked ASU team 35-7. I'll be in Tempe at "the other Phoenix school" to watch football Aggies play the Sun Devil's with my ASU fam and buddies who consider a GCU education the equivalent of a Penn Foster education.
