Southern Miss SMAC 2017 Fall Football Concert Series
July 17, 2017
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
In conjunction with the Southern Miss Activities Council (SMAC), Pride Field will play host to free pregame concerts prior to each Southern Miss home game during the 2017 football campaign. Each free concert will be open to Southern Miss students as well as the general public.
The student leaders of the Southern Miss Activities Council are partnering with the Athletics Department to create a special draw for all home football games this season. Each concert will be an extra attraction and will fire up a record number of students to create an energized home field advantage for important conference and non-conference match-ups.
The fall concert events will commence on Saturday, September 2, when Grammy winning country artist Billy Ray Cyrus headlines the first event at Pride Field for the home opener against the University of Kentucky. Mr. Cyrus will be joined by special guests Parmalee and A Thousand Horses. The first concert headliner will kick the Golden Eagles’ season off with a bang, performing songs from his hit album “Some Gave All.” Cyrus' latest album debuted at #61 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and #65 on the Billboard 200. His hit song “Achy Breaky Heart” was the fastest platinum-certified country single of 1992.
Gates will open at 12:30 p.m., with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. for the University of Kentucky opener.
