RE: 51
Thank you. I had forgotten about the wigwam shaped motel off of the Bessemer Super Hiway in Roosevelt city. I think it was called Wigwam Village

The Alabama Theater ad mentions Stan Malotte on the (Great Wurlitzer) organ. Between features, he led audience sing-a-longs of popular tunes with the words on the screen complete with a bouncing ball to keep us all together. Stan's brother was best known as the composer and arranger of the musical version of "The Lord's Prayer".
Donald O'Connor as a pirate included a note that he was "the 2nd louie from the Francis movies". He had starred in the series of "Francis, the Talking (Army) Mule" movies where the mule's voice was provided by Chill Wills who played in many supporting roles in McClintock (John Wayne) and "Giant" (Rock Hudson & Elizabeth Taylor) and others.
The Varsity Drive In mentions "7th Ave (G) South. Old timers may remember that the southside avenues were given letter names - 6th Ave. South was "Avenue F",etc.
