You have ZERO understanding of the issue. The homes and lead pipes. The water that was being pumped to them would be safe to drink but it was slightly corrosive. It disintegrated the calcium carbonate lining around the lead pipes in the homes. Those lead pipes leached into each individuals home. You are NOT SMART enough to talk about such issues off the top of your head. You can't wing it UofM. Now go back and try to educate yourself before you embarrass yourself yet again.

Actually, you are wrong. The pipes developed a phosphate coating. Calcium carbonate has nothing to do with it.

More importantly, the lead is not in the homes, it is in the service line between the water main and the house itself.

You can disagree with UofM's tone, but that is what happened. Flint was going to change water sources (from Detroit, to their own line from the lake). Detroit got pissed and shut them off early. So, Flint decided to use their own mothballed plant and take water from the Detroit River. They did not add phosphate to the water which is a bandaid approach to not fixing/removing old lead supply lines. The new water removed the accumulated phosphate coating and allowed lead to leach out. EPA actively covered it up until it couldn't be covered up any more.

Flint should have added phosphate. They clearly weren't up to running their own plant. That being said, the plan construct their own pipeline and stop using Detroit water was initiated before the state took over the city.

If Detroit doesn't cut off the water, this never happens.

At its core are two broke Democratic cities that didn't take care of their infrastructure for decades. Other cities have removed those lead lines, which eliminates this problem. Crappy cities, like these ones, (Chicago too), have no plan for dealing with/fixing the problem.

Then why are you posting on a board you say your side doesn't post on? Furthermore, if posting on this board is so beneath you, why do you continue to post on this board?

I think I now have 3-4 posts in the last 7 months here...so the answer to your pointless question is simple...I don't.

good day.

That's 3 or 4 more posts you smugly claim pains you to post. But then hypocrisy is a core belief for you regressives.

In fairness, they are the party of desperation.

When you are a single mother and your kid gets sick you don't have $100. You don't have anybody to ask for it, you can't borrow it, nothing.

The Democrats are the party to those people.

There is nothing beyond that desperation. The Republican message is meaningless beyond that. Hell, the run of the mill message is meaningless anyways.

I'm still waiting for my answer that I posted on page 3.

Are you holding your breath while you're waiting? That might be more effective of a temper tantrum.

Because you think he/she is a better candidate and/or has a better platform than the alternatives, same reason you would vote for a Republican.

RE: Serious post why vote for a democrat
I enjoy the irony of me posting this:

Quote:You enjoy telling others how they should behave, speak, and think

and a liberal responds with, this:

(07-14-2017 07:31 PM)john01992 Wrote:  I love how you honestly believe that you are a moderate who has the same amount of contempt for cons as you have for libs.

Classic! Telling me how to think. How liberal! The not-so-subtle subtext from you is, "Why aren’t you more like me?" And the simple answer from most people is… "Because we don’t want to be more like you."

While yes I am moderate when in comparison to many, including on this board, the smug judgmental attitudes, harsh denunciation of those who make different choices, lack of respect for others who see things differently, a refusal to recognize individual autonomy, an eagerness to enforce a stifling code of behavior and thought, and a conditional-at-best view toward individual liberty makes me utterly, maybe one day violently, opposed to modern American liberalism.

Reading is a wonderful thing. You should try to take it up one day. Until then I'll keep asking my stupid question if you keep asking yours.

Why should we have an all-Republican Congress.

Still waiting.......

Lol. You can't even come up with one good reason to vote for a democrat but resort to a childish rhetorical tactic. This is example number 7593 why your party continues to lose.

Still not one single post

Warning - this is a long editorial with a lot of big words. But if you can somehow make it through it, the writer eloquently explains a number of reasons he was a Republican for 44 years, an Independent for one year, but is now joining the Democratic Party. I'm sure you'll ignore this post just like the 10 other ones already that answered your childish question.

Still waiting for my first answer....
