Have fun out there fellow Huskies. If any of you want recommendations on places to go in San Diego send me a PM. I lived there for 3.5 years.

Massey which always has the Vegas spread to about 1 or 2 points, has the Huskies as 12 point underdogs to SDSU. That spread sounds familiar!

Yeah while I would feel comfortable taking NIU with that spread @ Nebraska, I wouldn't feel so good about it with SDSU. I wonder if Massey's 12 point spread will be a little lower than the Vegas line. I think one fair question though is really how good is Stanford

From what I have heard, Stanford was a little over rated. OR is too for that matter. The fact that OR is #24 in one of the pols is interesting.

RE: SDSU Game Sept 30th
Anyone buy tickets not in the huskies section but more toward midfield and for locals how easy is it to buy good seats on game day?

Want to sit closer to midfield but don't want to pay $50 per seat.

RE: SDSU Game Sept 30th
From Sports Illustrated:

The Schedule: Pass tough tests in the next two weeks—a road trip to Air Force and a visit from Northern Illinois, fresh off an upset of Nebraska—and San Diego State can start thinking seriously about storming the New Year’s Six. (Meanwhile, USF, Memphis, Houston and UCF all look dangerous enough to cannibalize each other’s chances once AAC play begins.) Aside from a mid-October home game against Boise State, which doesn’t appear to have the firepower of Broncos teams past, there doesn’t look to be much in the Aztecs’ way as they roll through the Mountain West, forcing the selection committee to stay up until 2 a.m. ET most Saturdays down the stretch.

Until further notice, SDSU seems primed to get another Power 5 test just before New Year’s Eve. Below, the rest of this week’s bowl projections:

No way, can't happen. I'll bet on that! Oh wait...

RE: SDSU Game Sept 30th
I always hate these type of games with SDSU and Air Force coming up. On one hand you want SDSU to be ranked high going into the NIU game, but at the same time if SDSU continues to look good and defeats a team like Air Force, then you really feel like the odds are stacked against NIU. I guess the ideal situation, SDSU wins a squeaker and Chapman suffers just a very mild high ankle sprain that keeps him out 2 to 3 weeks. I hope its not wrong to think like that!

RE: SDSU Game Sept 30th
attendance was posted as 43K for the Stanford game. Seems inflated because the entire upper bowl was closed. If the weather is not too hot, SDSU is still undefeated, and ranked, it should be a good crowd. I talked to the NIU Alumni Association and there is not an organized tailgate or tent for NIU. They are having a happy hour before the game at a local bar in the Gas Lamp area.

Club Level seats are the best in my opinion at Qualcomm. I always sit there to watch NIU get pounded in this stadium. Great site lines, waiter service, and better amenities shared with fewer people. Be careful with the field level seats. If your too low you have a hard time seeing the game. Plaza level is good and reasonable.

NIU needs to worry about NIU. Just hope we have a game plan to utilize the strengths of Huff and Santa. Our defense will keep us in the game but offense needs to do its part. If the offense can produce consistently, and the defense can continue to make plays, we have a great chance to win this game. If we play the game not to lose we will probably lose... Give Santa opportunities to go deep when SDSU is worried about stopping Huff. The two go hand in hand. The deep passes will make room for Huff. When Huff gets going run play action for a big play oppotunities.

One thing Santa was doing against Nebraska that will absolutely kill him at SDSU is on passing plays where he takes a long time in the pocket and stares down one particular receiver with a very late throw. Against the Nebraska D this mainly result in negative yardage passing plays, but SDSU could have a few pick sixes of their own if he does that a week from Saturday. Santa needs to learn to throw the ball away when nothing is there. You also can't have designed rollouts for Santa vs SDSU, trust the line, they have done a great job to this point on pass protection.

The Alumni Association is having a pregame event at the stadium on game day as well as a Happy Hour event on Thursday evening. Check out the NIU Alumni Association website for details.

I can't believe I am responding to the guy who said starting Childers is the most obvious "no-brainer" ever. No question Childers brings an interesting benefit to our offensive attack, but this statement still blows me away. At the time of the statement, his body of work was limited to a single spring scrimmage.
This (holding the ball too long) happened 3 times on Sat; one of the three was on a completed pass to Spears. What Santa did do on Sat was make great decisions when the play wasn't there, a few times running for positive yards. This (decision making) was a weakness coming into the season. This is part of the coaching staff doing thier job of coaching up. As to your other point, our O line is great, but Sat was not their best pass blocking game.

Badmoon, I think I agree with your premise (scary); although your adamant (obnoxious) support of Santa/Huff makes it difficult. Against Neb, the coaches coached to the situation (14 point lead with your D playing lights out); they went conservative and for good reason. One can argue that a healthy Graham could have done everything Santa did for 3 quarters, and done it perhaps better. Childers running ability, given our conservative game could have been used more. With that being said, Santa adapted to this strategy as well as can be expected, making good decisions even though he was not very sharp with his passsing for much of the game. What I truly believe is that of the QBs we have seen, only Santa makes the plays necessary to win Saturday's game once we lost the lead. He threw 2 dimes in pressure situations. The second pass to Blake was a Sunday throw; and yes, the ability to throw the ball deep significantly benefits the running game. Let's get and keep all of our QBs healthy, and continue to improve. We are in a good place right now; few people believed this would be the case after 3 games. SDSU will be another huge challenge (opportunity).
