Saw this posted elsewhere-thought for the day from George Carlin (comedian for you youngsters). A lot of truth in this:
"I love individuals. I hate groups of people. I hate a group of people with a ‘common purpose’. Because pretty soon they have little hats. And armbands. And fight songs. And a list of people they’re going to visit at 3 a.m. So, I dislike and despise groups of people. But I love individuals.”"

Yup. He did.
And was a comedic/thinking person genius. Like many of them a scant generation ago. Pretty sure Johnny Carson was a big lib, but you'd never really know it from his show, he actually had talent. Same as Letterman before he ran off the rails, and pick damn near any other comic from days gone by. SNL, esp.
But. They didn't see the need to preen and peacock and make double-plussed sure known that they were committed lefties.
Now if they don't, they're either questioned or shunned.
Ask James Wood how the work queue is coming along these days.

Yes. They used to actually have a sense of humor. They could get their point across with humor. Richard Pryor the same way. He could make points about racism and get both Black and White to laugh.
As for the shunned, there were liberals on the other boards slamming Carlin for that quote, not knowing he was one of them.
There's truth in what Carlin says whether you are talking about Nazis, Antifa or homeowner's associations.

I saw him in Memphis once about 5 years before he passed away and got up and walked out. He went on a 40 minute tirade about politics and was anything but funny, I kept sitting there waiting on him to leave off the politics and the leftist ranting until I couldn't take it anymore. Much of the crowd sat there in stunned silence with smatterings of applause occasionally. He was one of my favorites up to that point. I still consider him a comedic genius though.

it had to have been (and was for me) sad to watch.....
I promised myself I wouldn't go to 'that' world.....it's becoming increasingly difficult from the other side of the equation.....
to be brutally honest, it's why I won't last on this board much longer.....

George did lean left, but he was not a fan of the left-wing of the Democrat party either. He frequently spoke out against political correctness being fascism
