With a tip of the hat to Green Steve for this information...

South Carolina's first football game of the Coach Steve Spurrier era will be televised in prime time, as ESPN will showcase the Gamecocks' 2005 season opener against the University of Central Florida on Thursday night, Sept. 1 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Kickoff for the nationally televised contest will be shortly after 7:30 p.m.

The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 3, will be the first nationally televised game of the 2005 season.
