L.A Wins Summer Olympics Bid
The Olympics are coming back to America! We find out in September if it's the 2024 or 2028 games. Paris will be getting the other date. After the infrastructure/safety/zika/clean water debacle in Brazil I don't blame them for going back to first world nations lol.

Would you really want them in your own city?

They haven't in a generation. That is going to be one huge money grab for insiders and minority and women owned businesses...most of which will be shams.

I used to think it would be cool when I was a kid. Now, I know what a total financial waste they are and how miserable it is to deal with the leftovers.

Because homeland security takes over the policing. You could send a ton of illegals home.

Because LA hosted it "recently", most of the venues from the 1984 Games are still standing, and are actively being used. About the only exception will be LA Sports Arena (the Clippers' old home court, and even the Lakers played there in the 1960s), but at least now there is the Staples Center.

They will spend on infrastructure like a drunk horny sailor on 96 hour shore leave.

Anticipating that, the illegals will head to my state.

The US/Canada, along with Europe and East Asia, are the only places that can realistically host them regularly. Heck, that should be the rotation from here on out.

There is no we. This is all about the LA mayor and his national political ambitions. Now in full disclosure, the company I work for will make a nice chunk of change off of this. Heck we already have.

RE: L.A Wins Summer Olympics Bid
Not a surprise as LA and Paris were pretty much the only two cities bidding on 2024 and 2028. Most experts think Paris will host first followed by LA in 2028. Los Angeles can do fine if they can figure out something to do about their god-awful traffic over the next decade. I was a student at UCLA in 1984 when LA hosted the Olympics and that was great. Actually everyone was so nervous about traffic even then that a lot of people left town and the freeways were great. I doubt that will be the case this time around.

Eric Garcetti might be trying to take a page out of Mitt Romney's pagebook and parlay his Olympic aspirations into a presidential run. Of course Romney was CEO of the Salt Lake City Olympics but Garcetti is pretty much calling the shots in LA right now as far as the Olympics go.
