Agree.

One (season, one series, etc.) does not make a trend.

This season will confirm what appears to be an upward trend OR that last season was a 'perfect storm' where a good OL, good QB, etc. produced good results.

I do hope that folks here realize that we lost some very talented linemen on both sides of the ball.

Connor, Gardner, and Wylie are among the best linemen this program has produced in many years.

Or that PJ won one game at WMU his first season. One can never tell but I like what I see in terms of what CC is getting out of his players in terms of effort.

We cannot forget what a HUGE loss Nigel Kilby is. To minimize it is to be in denial. A team like EMU cannot afford to lose potential NFL draft picks, they are very rare.

Thanks for the reminder. The reason that happened, was a POS ex-Michigan coach by the name of English, whose bark was a lot louder than his bite, who sucked at coaching.

Last season was no 'fluke', it was built on the previous 2+ years of work by Creighton, totally rebuilding the team and the culture from ground ZERO, after the English debacle.

If we win again this year, and go to another bowl game, that certainly won't be a 'coincidence'. Our overall schedule is the toughest in the MAC, bar none. If we win 6 or 7 games this year, that will be major progress from last year.

Creighton is doing everything right, with the exception of recruiting.....which is obviously a major exception. Improve in that area, and there is no reason EMU won't battle WMU, CMU and Toledo head to head, and win consistently. Hell, we beat CMU last year, and gave you guys one of your better MAC games, with the best team and talent you've had in your entire history. Creighton is still battling 30+ years of history, and poor facilities, but hopefully that is changing. Another bowl game will be another step in the right direction........and shovels in the ground of our new sports complex and stadium renovation will be a HUGE step forward.

We just hired a new AD from the SEC, and Creighton just signed an extension, so we're all hopeful those are very good signs for the future of EMU football.

The fortunes of MAC football teams ebb and flow very quickly. Your favorite Broncos were 1-11 only 4 years ago, when the Fleckster rolled into town. Bowling Green and NIU were the most recent dominant teams, and neither even made a bowl game last year.

Looking forward to seeing you in Ypsilanti this year.

To be fair, it is not 30+ years of EMU football futility, as it is the 30 year anniversary of EMU being #1 in the MAC and that glorious California Bowl victory over San Jose State, December 1987.

Come on Bob - Kilby was good and has a potentially strong future, but that's a bit too much credit for a redshirt freshman. Let's see if someone else can duplicate his production this fall.

Kudos to the 87'team and Harkema. He built it up to the 87 pinnacle, and then it went right back down under his watch.

The first word that comes to mind, looking at the last 40 years of EMU football, is
futility, no matter how you slice it.

Excellent. That's the spirit. We move forward as a program by rolling up our sleeves and working harder and better than other team in the MAC. You're correct the way the entire program was managed from top to bottom was restructured by CC. He makes all the rest of our previous football coaches look lazy by comparison.

Yeah, Kilby was sweet and all, but let's pump the brakes just a little bit there. I'm still very hesitant to say that of Roback.

All the 'potential' in the world means nothing if you can't stay in school, or on the field healthy. 40-50% attrition per recruiting class is the norm. Players come and go.......NOBODY is irreplaceable.

Here is your motivational prediction for the year. CFN predicts EMU to go 2-10. Winning only vs Charlotte and Ball State.

If CFN predicts EMU to do poorly that's almost a guarantee that they'll do well. I've never seen a publication with so little clue about MAC teams.
