Biggest injury concern right now is getting Aristilde back 100% prior to first kickoff. Having that kid back 100% healthy, is going to make a much bigger overall difference, than having Vann 1st string vs. either Eriksen or Turner.

Exactly. Neither Vann nor Eriksen is a 20 carry per game back because they'd never stay healthy the entire season. Luckily we've got 3 good ones, and even Banham the scrapper can get positive yardage if called upon.

Apparently Aristilde is on track, making progress............but you never know with a major injury, until they're out there running and hitting full speed with no restrictions.

Not to pat my own back, but I told everybody about Diuly last year, before he ever played in an actual game. Second half of the season everybody saw what a difference maker the kid could/can be. He'll drop a ball here and there, but his size, big play capability, and upside is about as good as any receiver in the entire MAC.

Agree on Diuly. He made some big time catches last season and stretches the field with his speed. Great call!!

Also very interesting.......without ever having really played Center (to my knowledge), Dakota Tallman has been added to the Rimington Trophy watch list as college football's best center!

From what I hear, he should be a great replacement at that position.

I think Vann proved his freshman year that he has a good combination of power and home run hitting ability. And that was in limited opportunities, due to having a stud in front of him and generally playing from behind every game. I like Eriksen, but in my opinion, our top two backs are Vann and Turner, and both have potential to be very good players.

Hate to sound like a broken record (for those who remember them), but if the OL holds up, the weapons are there on offense.

Rarely do we have an all-MAC caliber QB and a stable of RBs who can come in and run and run and run while Roback throws and throws and throws...

And I think we have a DL which can control the line of scrimmage.

So if the OL holds up, then can can control the game on both sides of the ball.

Roback has shown many times that he can make intermediate throws, and our receivers have the ability to make the plays. We talk about Aristilde and Bailey a lot, but Porter and Daugherty can eat DBs up across the middle.

I hope Keen brings more of a focus to the middle of the field. Less Roback deep balls will be good for the OL and the offense in general.

100% If Roback is under pressure, throwing 50/50 balls off his back foot, we won't be nearly as lucky as last year with the late heroics.

I feel confident at this point that Roback and Keen will work well together. Roback should continue to improve his decision making, and have his best season yet. Keen is fully aware of a developing OLine, so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with. He gets the benefit of the doubt for the first 3 or 4 games. Unless of course we lose to Charlotte while scoring 7 points.....haha.

Good thing about this thread and others:

Different seasons mean different players, different strengths and weakness and different game plans.

Sport seasons aren't like running the previous season's records through the Xerox machine. (P.S. I don't see the Cubs running away in MLB).
