Edit: I find it amusing that a fan of Houston would be saying anything to someone who is has been going to SDSU games since he was born. Anyway, good luck next year, I like your program, and root for Major.

Still waiting for SDSU and BYU to the AAC announcement 04-cheers

BYU would never join the AAC, as that act would be their acknowledgement that they are inferior to Utah. Never going to happen.

SDSU will join the AAC when it appears the AAC will get a substantially better TV contract (~$5M). Never going to happen.

When the AAC gets that better contact, SDSU likely won't get the same good deal opportunity they passed on previously. I'm usually a glass half empty kind of guy, but I'm betting the AAC will get a new contract way north of $5M per.

Only reason why I included SDSU with BYU is b/c you guys are in good terms with the AAC unlike Boise who tried to pull a fast one "negotiate a special deal" over many programs from this conference .

I doubt though BYU would even consider SDSU as travel partner if it came to that, I think Air Force or Colorado State have the inside track to joining this league with BYU.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm totally against any one from mwc joining the AAC... Why?!? They just don't bring much worth to the table.

Agreed. No team in the MW would increase the AAC's TV contract value, and no team in the AAC would increase the value for the MW. We are all in the same G5 boat. I hope for the best for you.

Thanks but I have to kindly disagree

I must say majority AAC programs bring importance value something no G4 can come close to matching.

I'd use Rutgers for example... They rarely ever have constant productivity in their football basketball where it matters most and look what the B1G was able to produce in their overrated tv deal.

Discussion from two months ago on intra-conference games viewership:

Quote:P6 AAC averaged 734,150 viewers over 20 rated AAC vs AAC games.
That's as many viewers as the average MAC +the average MWC, and we still have 9,000 AAC viewers left over to cover the THREE lowest rated CUSA beIN games.
MORE THAN THE TOP TWO G4 CONFERENCES COMBINED.

MAC was the best G4, averaging 365,714 viewers over their 14 games. Led by their conference championship - Cotton Bowl bound WMU - which would have ranked 5th in the AAC. Best regular season game would have been sixth best in the AAC. Best individual team would be below the AAC middle.
MWC best WAS a regular season game - and again would have been sixth best viewership in the AAC. Powerhouse national brand Boise, with all their home games on ESPN2? Would be #8 in the AAC.
SunBelt actually beat CUSA average viewership, with 229,556 per game - less than one third the AAC. Best game would crack the AAC top 10 games, and best team would be #10 in the American.
CUSA really had their average dragged down by beIN ratings. At the top the conference championship game did almost half of the AAC CCG, and would almost make the AAC top 5. Best regular season game, on ESPNU would be #16 AAC regular season game. Wait, let's really look apples to apples - would be the fifth best AAC ESPNU game.

Your "same boat" argument doesn't float. Especially in the area of TV contract value.

If you look at my statement, I said, "we are all in the same G5 boat." I didn't say that the populations of the MW conference areas, and therefore viewerships are the same as the AAC. Obviously, the population out east, and also in Texas, far exceeds that of the Rockies, thus viewership numbers will always be higher.

Again, we are in the same "G5 boat" together. No reasonable person would argue with that, if you look at the actual definition of a P5 conference. But you know that.

If value is defined by population, and therefore potential viewership numbers, then you are right. Nobody could argue with that fact.

But look at Nebraska going to the B1G. That expansion had nothing to do with population/viewership numbers, and everything to do with perceived value of the program.

Look at Big 12 expansion, or lack thereof, to show how none of the teams in the AAC, or MW for that matter, actually bring value. Again, same G5 boat.

LOL... This reply here ^^^ proves why Apple n Oranges shouldn't be in the same basket all at once but rather one be used for juice while the other for pie.

You can use any imaginable scenario you see fit but we can never confuse the AAC with any of said G4's.

Oh, and don't get me started with the dead walking conference, the big12-2

Gotta love this place. Where myopia reigns supreme. I am looking forward to come back in October. The spin is going to be out of control. It will be worse than Bowl Season.

Literally as we type, there are three AAC fans posting right now. Your boy Pesik is over there quite often as well.

Based on what ESPN pays for BSU football I would think it's valued pretty high.

You wouldn't agree on inviting Air Force Big H?

To be perfectly honest with you, Underdog, no... What would really make Air Force very attractive though will be BYU and Air Force together.

I don't think this conference would say "no" to Air Force... It improves the "American" brand that we're trying to establish in my opinion....

Wichita State brought the AAC a very valuable needed asset... We can't really say the same for Air Force, football wise I mean, BYU on the other hand... ... ...

What the AAC needs is someone who will instantly create rivalries across the league just like what Wichita did in basketball, Underdog

Please take them. Horrendous basketball, and no upside in football (except for the wins over Navy and the CIC Trophy that nobody cares about).

We would just add UTSA, which has more upside.

Unfortunately for all of us, Air Force would just say no to the American, again.

If the AAC were to land Army, I think Air Force would absolutely be interested.
