Being like a fourth to fifth team in football in the state of Georgia does not helped them at all.

Like I said, Texas State can't be added. Lamar or another school not already in the San Antonio market will get the call before them. The only time they would get in is when UTSA goes to AAC asa replacement for Houston.

Sad but true.

I made a correction in my post. I meant Georgia State is not a valuable candidate for C-USA. The ratings prove that they can't garner the viewership to justified for an add. Arkansas State is a much better candidate for that. Even James Madison on the east as well.

You do realize that people following the thread that have DavidSt blocked avoided having to see that list until you replied with the list in its entirety rather than editing it down, in order to make a one word reply?

Yup. Nothing like DavidSt posting 143 options for CUSA that he deems more worthy than Georgia St. I believe Lindenwood and West Chester are particularly thought provoking. I think he's become our third biggest rival behind GS and USA. His hatred is strong.
Hunt and replace "one word" for "two line", then ditto.

I agree with the OP that Georgia St with their media market and retrofitted stadium are the best choice in the East followed by Appalachian St and Georgia Southern.

In the west I think Texas St is at best the third west option after Arkansas St and ULL.
We are not going to CUSA. LOL

The thing is---options #1 and #2 lose money moving to CUSA. It makes sense for Texas St because I think regular games with the other Texas teams in CUSA will fill enough seats make it work. I also think it aids in getting more Texas States on fanbase interested (certain to happen when the Bobcats eventually start winning--which is inevitable---too much talent around them).

For Georgia St, the pay off isnt all that grand. In fact---I dont think there is a payoff. I think Georgia St might say no to that offer (at least as things now stand).

Basketball
* No in-conference play
* Automatic bid is determined by committee.
Other sports

Sound good?
How do ou prevent schools from recruiting former professional Cheese Rollers?

USM might make sense in the SB but I would think that'd be a hard sell to fans and boosters.

Presumably if you hear a bunch of Gloucester accents in Tuscaloosa, you'd do well to be suspicious. Or if somewhere like Miami or Tulane has a strong program.

RE: Will CUSA expand within the next 3 years? (adding Texas State and Georgia State)
Does anyone have solid numbers for what C-USA schools are bringing in each year versus what the Sunbelt does?

There seems to be some conception from Sunbelt folks that somehow the Sunbelt as currently configured is better than C-USA. It's my opinion that while C-USA is oversized and would be better off slit in two with each side raiding the Sunbelt for a few additional members they have superior programs.

All 4 Texas C-USA schools have better programs than Texas St.
I would argue that ULL and Arkansas St are on par with LA Tech but LA Twch seems to think otherwise since they avoided them during their stint in the WAC.
ULM is one of the poorest funded FBS schools in the nation
On the Gulf Coast USM trumps USA for longevity and tradition
While UAB plays in an old off campus stadium they are in a much more attractive market than Troy
The Charlotte and Georgia St programs are about equivalent as start ups in big markets--one has a dinky but brand new stadium the other a retrofitted baseball field
Coastal and the F_U twins are somewhat similar but the F_Us have a big head start on the Chanticleers
That leaves Georgia Southern and App St in the Sunbelt and WKU, MTSU, Marshall, and ODU in C-USA. The SBC schools have storied FCS pasts but so does Marshall. I'd say the value of those 4 trumps the value of the SBCs pair

I never seem to understand when someone throws in starting a G5 network. First, MAC is signed long term. Second, AAC is poised to make 3 to 8 million a year per team depending who you talk to for next contract. There is no fathomable way a G5 network would bring in money like that as an alternative for them.

All the Sunbelt folks are saying is there is little motivation for SB schools to jump to CUSA now that CUSA schools just get $200K a year from media.

Once the Sunbelt slims down to if 10 member configuration, the SB schools will get $140K each from media. They will also be splitting thier CFP distribution and basketball credits by just 10--rather than the 14 team split used in CUSA. That results in an extra base CFP/NCAA credit distribution of $350K a team for SB teams. So, the Sunbelt teams will likley be netting about $300K more than CUSA teams. Thats not a huge amount, but its not much of a motivation to pay exit fees and a 2 million dollar entry fee to take a small pay cut---and likley experience and increase in travel expenses.

I think the move might work for certain SB teams (like Texas St), but most SB teams would likely not see much upside in the move under current conditions.

Easy enough to find.
TV
CUSA $2.8 million
Sun Belt $1.3 million

Base CFP
CUSA $10 million
Sun Belt $10 million

CFP Performance fund distribution 2016
CUSA $3,929,315
Sun Belt $7,115,246

NCAA Units @ $264,859 for distribution in 2017-18
CUSA 11 units = $2,913,449
Sun Belt 10 = $2,648,590

UTSA is better than North Texas in football. UTSA and Old Dominion are the better programs who have newer programs.

As for the G5 network? Maybe it could be just a Network for the NCAA overall where all the schools get a stage that could not get because of ESPN and the P5. Could get some D2 Thursday night games as well.

Of course. When confronted with cold hard facts responding with a meme when you can't refute it makes perfect sense.
